135 to 150MPH:

Five point safety harness SFI 16.1 or 16.5 (no more than 5 years old) Belts must be installed per manufactures instructions. If vehicle has a high back seat, the belts MUST go thru the back.
Unblown car:
Suit – SFI 3.2A-1
Boots SFI – 3.3/5
Gloves SFI 3.3/5
Head Sock SFI 3.3 (Required for open cars with no hood or side opening only)
Blown car:
Suit – SFI 3.2A-1
Boots SFI – 3.3/5
Gloves SFI 3.3/5
Head Sock SFI 3.3
Four Point Roll Bar (Open cockpit cars must have a six point roll bar)
Speed rated tires
Hood Hold Downs
Kill Switch
Electric fuel pumps require an inertial kill switch to disable pump
Arm restraints OR door net

The way this reads you need a five point safety harness blown/unblown.
Four items only for unblown.
Ten items for blown.

For unblown you don't need:
Four Point Roll Bar (Open cockpit cars must have a six point roll bar)
Speed rated tires
Hood Hold Downs
Kill Switch
Electric fuel pumps require an inertial kill switch to disable pump
Arm restraints OR door net

Isn't this what was meant?

From what I can tell, "H" tires are rated for 130 mph. If I'm planning to run below 135, are the H tires sufficient, or should I just play it safe and get a V-rated (149 mph) set?

Gary are you runing a car or bike?

Check your ECTA rule book (2012) at the top of page 16 for car tires and page 76 near the bottom for bike tires.  Cars with H tires are good up to 175mph.   The cut off for bikes with H tires is 130mph.

Gary, the safety requirements are minimums - go with the "V"s. I don't know what you are running, but if the bike is capable of a speed greater than you plan to go, the bike will have to tech to those higher standards; also if you are in a class with a record higher than your bike can go (I'm feelin' ya here), you have to meet those safety requirements too. Beware of the tire manufacture dates if you order yours on-line.

Hey, Littleliner and Relaxedphit--thanks for the info (I recently rejoined ECTA after a couple of years' absence, and the rulebook hasn't arrived yet). I'm driving a car, not a bike, and I won't be cracking 135, but I saw that the H rating (for the general public anyway) seemed to go up to 130, and I figured I'd just be safe and go with the V's. Now I definitely will...thanks!

It doesn't matter what speed you intend to run, the safety requirements are set by the Record Speed in your class. So if the record speed in your class is over 200MPH, then you have to tech to that speed.

LSR Mike,
That statement is true for SCTA but ECTA inspects to safety requirements for speed not class record speeds.

Hey, Mike: Yeah, as Joe mentioned, this'll just be for ECTA and LTA for now--the salt's definitely a goal, but not this year. But even so, I just discovered that the Bonneville record for F/PRO is 167.158, and that "W"-rated tires are good to 168--so a set of those would be perfect!  :-D

I ran against that record a few years ago in a Taurus SHO .. and came this close "" , log showed 169 right before the crank ate a rod bearing ....

That's funny--it didn't even really occur to me that F-class goes all the way up to 183 ci, which would be the 3.0 motor in the Taurus. Unfortunately, I'll only be running a little Ecotec 2.4, which will crap out long before 169... :-)
