Well I decided to make some time! This is a Smith Race Craft tube front clip for a early camaro Firebird that was donated for the project .
That frame section is nice.... they (and others as well) work really well on Firebirds/Camaros and should probably work okay on the Fairlane although I think it may be a little on the wide side.
If you go ahead with using it, and still want to run gas coupe, cut out the frame sections of the Ford unibody and "graft them in at the stock locations. That way, your "stock" frame will still be there.
As for any negativity regarding aerodynamics.... IT'S CLASSIC CATEGORY!.... Camaros, Firebirds, Vegas, Monzas, Mustangs, Studebakers etc were ALL in the .4 and up range for Cd..... the only real ultimate difference would be the frontal areas of the various cars.... We had naysayers who prophesied that our '74 Chevy Vega, with 1000hp, would not go faster than 242 MPH (their desktop dyno program said so) .... and that our lakester (with 840 hp) would NEVER go faster than 268 MPH (same desktop dyno program).... To date, the Vega has gone a one way fastest of 258 MPH and the lakester has gone 282 mph.....
Done let any of the armchair experts on this site grind you down!
