I too have a friend that lives near Wilmington, i called him a few weeks ago when i made my lodging reservations and asked about the weather conditions. He stated that the end of April, first of May is the rainiest time of year, yuk shades of Maxton last Sept. and Oct. Someone much be watching over you, or is it us, i never thought on friday before and saturday morning in Sept. that any runs would be made. I was the first vehicle to get the waveoff i guess around 11:45 a.m.

Don't forget the cold either, will be nicer in the middle of summer but that 1st race may be pretty cold, possible snow on the ground.
I am hoping for the best but will be ready for the worst.

Don't about that ....I don't ever remember seeing snow on the ground the last weekend in April... In the air, yes... But not on the ground.

Sorry about that for some reason I was thinking the first race was at the begining of april.

If the track is as smooth as I am hearing and slightly down, with the same vehicle, same motor and gearing it would have to pick up top end speed. Did  the roughness at Maxton not scrub off a little speed?

For my N/A bikes the 3/4 mile bump at Maxton reallyhurt top end.  You would get airborne long enough to hit the rev limiter and you could never recover the rpm you lost from there to the end.  We learned to get creative in the shifting to minimize the problem.  That bump got progressively worse over the years and you just couldn't miss it the last year or so.  Smooth and a little down hill sounds good.

"... a little down hill sounds good."

Kinda defeats the proposed standard for International events though.

I am hoping the temperatures are higher than predicted ... 50 and damp is not fun once you get chilled.
