I was very anxious at my first Maxton in September not knowing where to go and not wanting to hold anyone up. I will never forget as I was in the staging lane staring at the infamous dogleg I had heard an read about at how fast I would be when I got into it. But you don't really realize  it is there when you go through it. Most all of you were carrying a lot more speed than me and it might have been different for you. I felt like an old pro when I got back in October and could not wait to see how much speed I had picked up with the changes I had made to the truck. I had to wait until around 7:15 am I think when I ran on Sunday morning to find out. My aerodynamic brick did not do so good in Saturday's head wind. I took great pride in being able to set a track record in my class, and it made all of the hard work and pain in my on going recovery seam even more worth while.

AN oil down means agonizing frustration in the staging lanes ...or a chance to enjoy a little fun and dance!

I was sitting fourth in the staging lane and missed the big dance, my truck had never seen mud I think it ran a little faster to get away from it.

Okay, I guess I should weigh in with a comment here.  Nancy and I have gone to Maxton events many times, and I've taken many photos there.  Some of those photos have been shown on this site and even on this Forum.  There are probably a thousand of 'em in total.  I know there are shots of John Beckett and Lionel Williams and many others that don't race there any more - even Clem and his crew.  The same goes for cars and bikes -- lots of them.

It'd take quite a while, but I'll sooner than later get them displayed in the Gallery of the website, under a Maxton header.  I think many, if not all, will someplace in the file tell me when they're from so maybe I can at least sort them by year.

I'll do it, that is, if youse guys want to see 'em.  Take a look at the Gallery here first to see what is already displayed.

Slim,
I have a bunch too. Evidence being the recent discovery.  Is there any secret to adding to Maxton file.

Joe

I've taken to sending files of photos to Woody, who collates them into bunches by location and date and then sends the refarbulated packets to Bob.  Bob put them into the Gallery so we don't have other nefarious folks trying to add stuff like photos of propellor-driven pit bikes, if you know what I mean.  Send 'em to Woody if you'd be so kind, or to me and I'll get them to him.  Assuming you've got a massive batch of them -- maybe it'd work better to put them on a thumb drive or something like that and send them by mail.  A file with a zillion kb worth of photos might take more than a few minutes to go through the internet's small pipe.

Howsabout if you get in touch with him and ask if there are any parameters that he'd like you - and perhaps others that have large batches of photos - to observe before sending them to him?  If it'll make his job easier I'm all for it.  Thanks, Joe.
