Saturday morning rain:

Sunday morning 188 mph pass (Racheal even tested the Guhl Motors extended rev-limiter!  :-D). This is the full experience, from start to parking it back in line!:

It was a long week for us, with about 2000 miles of travel and even 36 hours without sleep at one point. Long lines, cold, rain, headwinds, bike gremlins....but we wouldn't have missed it! Looking forward to seeing everyone next year in OH!  :-)

It was a great weekend for me and I didn't even drive. I was amazed by all the cars and bikes that showed up.

Great hanging out with a bunch of folks that I never have time to talk with on most race weekends.

 The food was awesome.

The slide show was real cool.

Maxton is definitely a challenging track and in my eye any records from there mean more then records from other mile tracks.

  See you all next year. I hear we will be racing on some sort of smooth, straight, surface!!!!

Just a point of interest ... does anyone know if Dave Marcus was wearing his wingtip shoes?

Nope, donated to the local community soft ball fields I believe. Good show. As the wife puts it "don't let them bastards get a thing" she tends to get emotional things she is passionate about.

Many years ago we donated the old push up timing stand to the Wendover little league. The old El Mirage timing tower that was built in 1948 and used until 1993 was restored by Cook motorsports and is in the NHRA museum. I sat in it for 10 years open air cold hot or windy. Fond memories up there.

My sentiment was to have a nice Bonfire of the thing and let the Maxton Fire Dept have a Practice session.

Glad to see it go to good cause.

The local community at Laurinburg / Maxton was g00d to us ... It was a really nice gesture on Joe/Keith to donate it and have it give a community some benefit ... unfortunately, the good Colonel (USAR) from Gryfon was denied his elevated command post that we paid for ... You never know, very unlikely but we could return sometime in the future.

Joe:

It would be ironic if the Good Colonel lost his funding now that the Congressional Super Committee could not agree on deficit cuts and automatic cuts are to take place over the next few years.
