200 MPH ? NOPE...  2 runs YES, 2 more records in the Maxton History Books YES..My fastest 2 runs ever ?  YES   190.2 and 191.0 MPH, yes, but still not the Objective...

Well it's Monday and I am reflecting back on this past weekend , the last event at the Maxton Monster Mile.  While I did my best, my best was not enough,, given what Mother nature threw at as Saturday and that the Long Lines worked against me, in not having time for a run Saturday to test the new set up or time for a third run Sunday.

Yes,, I launched it to hard and blazed the tires, yes I buzzed the Chip,, Yes I went Sideways a bit..Yes I did not have time for a needed gear change..

YES YES YES,... I had a BLAST...

200 MPH ?
YES, I could have used N2O and got it,
YES , I could have used  a blower and got it,
YES I could have used a 950HP Big Block and got it,
YES I could have put a Dry sump Nascar motor and got it.

But that would have been to easy !!!   LOL  nothing at 200mph is easy (I have found out)

But I am old fashioned and stubborn and was ONLY going to "try" for 200 "MY WAY".. Old School N/A on Gas Small Block Chevy "C" Motor.

Am I crazy ? hmm that is debatable.. will I go 200 my way ... SURE Hope so

See you all in Ohio..

Congrats on the two new records.Amy and I heard you "light'em up" on sunday even before we could see your car. 200mph your way is the only way. That's one of the things that endear me to this thing called land speed racing, it's not a Cookie cutter kind of thing. If someone goes 200 and you copy their setup, what have you accomplished? It's the personal goals and diversity that seems to drive us all. Congrats again Charles, I'll be talking to you over the winter and see you in Ohio. cheers

Way to go Charles!  Great to see you and to catch up!  We were in line at the 3/4 mile when you buzzed by on the 191... sounds awesome, looks stable!  We were glad to hear on the CB that you had eclipsed 190mph!

Unfortunately, I grenaded the TEX101A on the pass we had the truck set on "kill"... but we can't complain any after 15 runs at Maxton and 21 pulls at Bonneville with no problems... we were bound to finally break something!

We had the Jag all wound up for 200+ after a 197.5 pass earlier in the day - upped the N2O and timing... and the bumps at the end of the track tripped the inertia swtich!  SUCKS!

See you at Wilmington!

Charles you will be succesful doing it your way but it will take more then a gear change and tires. You need more power from the engine plain and simple. You are going to find it hard to hook up in the first 2 gears no matter what tire you have. Dave can tell you that first hand. Thats whats killing our pistons. Tire spin. You need the power to pull you after the tires finally hook up, and while you are close its not enough to be a sure thing.

Charles - Congrats!  You had an awesome weekend and it was good to chat with you a little - hope we have more time to jawbone next year.

Frank and Amy - I didn't find you at the track!  We got 3 runs in and I suspect we could have given Amy a ride early Sunday.  Sorry that didn't happen.

See y'all next year.

Charles, ask Timney where he kissed the track in Ohio and you should launch from there! grin

As a Cajun you should know that rasslin' gators is a lot easier than 200 with a small block!  grin

You done real good there at Maxton!  cheers

If it was easy, everyone would do it. We dont have sponsors to please or a contract to fulfill. We race to satisfy ourselves. Looks to me like you are doing that part well.

Joe my friend you are right on as usual.

Sorry we missed out on our normal McDuffs dinner together Friday night.  We will have to find a new place to dine in Ohio...

Have a good off season, see you on Tuesday Chat and again in April.

Charles, sometimes it is good to not get what we want right away.  The 200 mph goal will keep you interested and busy for one more year.  It will be more sweeter when you finally get it, too.
