I thought all y'all might need some information about the locals in Wilmington

You might be from Ohio (pronounced O-hi-yuh), if...

You think all Pro football teams are supposed to wear orange!
You know all the 4 seasons: winter, still winter, almost winter and construction.
You live less than 30 miles from some college or university.
You know what a buckeye really is, and have a recipe for candied ones.
"Toward the lake" means "north" and "toward the river" means "south."
You know if other Ohioans are from southern or northern Ohio as soon as they open their mouths.
You can spell words like Cuyahoga, Olentangy, Bellefontaine,Tuscarawas, Wapakoneta and you know which letter is doubled in    Cincinnati.
"Vacation! " means spending a day at Cedar Point in the summer and deer hunting in the fall.
    You measure distance in minutes.
Your school classes were canceled because of cold.
Your school classes were canceled because of heat.
You've had to switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day.
You know what should be knee-high by the Fourth of July.
You end your sentences with an unnecessary preposition. For example: "Where's my coat at?"
You install security lights on your house and garage and leave both unlocked.
You think of the major four food groups as corn, pork, beer, and Jell-O salad with marshmallows.
You carry jumper cables in your car.
    You know what 'pop' is.
You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit.
Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow.
You think sexy lingerie is tube socks and a flannel nightgown.
The local paper covers national and international headlines on one page but requires six pages for sports.

There are TOO MANY similarities between your list and the NC list.  Similar but different.

BTW - it was great to see you and the family and I look forward to seeing you in Ohio.

Buckeye: a hairless nut of little or no commercial value!  :-D  And yes I resemble that remark!  :-o

The people made Maxton great and that will work well in O-hi-yuh!

Onion cookies.  Nothin' like 'em.  When I'm in FL/GA the Crystals are a lame second place but NOT the real deal.  Is there a Chateau Blanc (for our Canadian friends) in Wilmington?  Yummmm - hope so!

Don't get me started Dan. The French Canadian population in this country is made up mostly of fine people who I enjoy being around, but there is a very vocal minority of the much smaller French speaking population that try to foist their language and culture on all of us. French does not represent the majority of Canadians.

Did you maybe hit a nerve?!!!!  :| :| :|

White Castle came from Kansas(??). They came to Cincinnati as early as the late 20's. I remember them from Cincy as a boy (50's), they were MUCH better then when you could recognize the meat.

PJ - I was just teasing.  My Mom was English Canadian by birth although she spent almost all her life here in the 'States.  Also, my daughter just married a Canadian (German extraction) from Newmarket.

It's okay Dan. I'm originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba where there's a substantial French population but I came out to Calgary, Alberta many years ago. It seems somewhere along the way I may have picked up a little red under my collar.  :-D :-D :-D
