Gas Supply for final event at Maxton
« on: October 12, 2011, 10:00:21 AM »
As we close out the season at Maxton, we have a limited supply of event gas. We want to use up all the fuel as interstate transportation of fuel is NOT in our plans. If you have special needs, you need to bring your own sealed container.

Hi, Joe -

My first event at Maxton.

What octanes are available on site?

I get my racing gas locally from a station that dispenses with a standard pump, therefore my container is not "sealed".  Does the ECTA have a method for confirming gas on site, and if so, what is that procedure?

Joe, do you think there is enough event gas on site to complete the event?

Thanks

Chris Conrad

Just talked to Mike Wiles, the fuel guy about the fuel supply at the track:
50 gallons of 100 unleaded
20/25 gallons of 111
50 gallons of 118

Sounds like I'll need to bring my own to be on the safe side.

Does the ECTA use the same type of dielectric constant test that the SCTA does?

MM

In the past they allowed a sealed container to be opened and stored in the gas truck for the weekend. There was a slight 'corking' fee, but you could run on G records.

I don't think there are facilities to 'test' opened containers.

Most Racing Gas  comes in "sealed"  5 gallon pales/cans.

Around here we can get VP and Sunoco in sealed 5 gallon cans.

Bring the sealed can to the Fuel Trailer with your race car/bike,,,

Let Mike or Shane inspect your tank, open the sealed can and fill your tank, close and seal your tank and you are OK for Gas class now.

Oh yeah,,, be nice slip them a few $  for the process.

See you all at the Track

We are still sealed up with plenty of gas from Bonneville. I can only assume that will be ok???  Can we run with a tank seal from Bonneville?

I'd vote for letting you through impound with a Bonneville seal on the tank since I have seen the seals many times -- and know what to look for to make sure that you haven't sealed it yourself to make it look like one from out there.  But -- since I am a bike guy/inspector you'd best be sure to get an opinion from a car racer/inspector.

Paying the officials?  Haven't tried that in SCTA.  Probably another reason for my lack of success the last few years.  Maybe if I'd done that I could add a couple more lines under this.  You know, print my biography with every reply.  Hi mom!  Love you kids!

Oh, Stan Back, ye of little faith.  We suggest it's a courtesy to offer a tip to the fuel vendors because by bringing our own containers to the event and having them by requirement open and pour the fuel into the tank -- we're not only getting so work done by them without compensation, but we're also not buying any fuel from them.  We want their presence at the track so that we can have easy access to a quality race fuel(s) - and if they don't make their necessary profit we won't get them for next time.  That's all -- it's not a "pay for favors" thing.

I've sealed many a tank at Bonneville so I'd likely recognize a good seal if I see one.  No idea if Joe and Keith want me to take this task but I'm willing and probably as qualified as anyone.  The bright fuscia nail polish is MINE - from the Dan Warner collection.

ECTA folks,,, many of you may not know the famous or is it infamous Stan Back,,

Don't let his sarcasm about us the ECTA or our policies and procedures get to you,,, he is really a nice guy and is a RACER and has an awesome Roadster... his on line sarcasm has to be the result of to many people peeing in his corn flakes when he was younger...

It's fun to joke along with him, and I know some times he is a bit over the top,,, just remember it's not his fault,,, it's just pee on the brain !!!

LOL...

All in jest,,,,

Stan Back,,, next year when we start running in Ohio,, that will be closer to you,,

Come to Ohio and see how much fun a standing mile with traction can be !!!
