Volunteers for the Final Maxton Meet (October)
« on: October 10, 2011, 12:24:36 PM »
Time to get the ol' volunteer ball rolling.  This is your last chance to hang out at the old track and we'll need a bunch of you.  So far I have 2 folks lined up so you can still pretty much pick your spot.  We expect this will be a pretty big meet as people come to say their goodbyes to the old concrete.  Please contact me here or at <stokes_dan@yahoo.com>.

Thanks
Dan Stokes

Am I gonna be there -- even Gryphon couldn't stop me. With enough of their students they coud kill me,but I'll still be there. Neither rain nor storm or gloom of light will stay shutdown of the quick completion of it's appointed rounds. Hospitals can try, but I've signed several Against Medical Advise forms.

On Friday I will help set up the spectator area across from the starting line as well as put out cones as needed. Once the security wanna bee,s get out of the way by the timing tower I will help in that area.  And when the shut down area is released I can help put out the cones in that area so Joe can move them around a bunch of times.
  See you there

Nancy and I don't expect to arrive 'til Saturday morning (well, late Friday evening), so I can't help 'til I get there.  We'll have one bike to race -- but I should be able to do some inspecting if you'd like me to do so.  I'll try to remember my inspector's hat.  Will the weather be nice and warm?

Nancy can work if you'd like her to do so.  Maybe as chanteuse, maybe as anything else you need.

Chanteuse?  I always thought of her as a sort of attractive brown color at this point in the summer.  But she'd still be a cutie even in chanteuse.  Not sure where we might need her but I know how to find you two if needed.

As far as working - I think we now have a pretty good group but you know we can always use set-up, tear-down, and inspection help.  Ken - got you on the list.  Shutdown be the same crew as last time and we'll stick Drake at Pre-Stage as he's now an experienced hand (and seemed to be doing well there).

Thanks to ALL

Thanks for the reminder John. DNR will be my next tattoo. "DNR/Organ Donor  Keep refrigerated after opening" Like George Strait sings - "I'm not here for a long time. I'm here for a good time."

Dan, you're thinking Chartreuse, the only color ever named after a beverage, and is also the color one turns after drinking it.  :-P

Really guys, I KNEW that.  It was a little humor.  For reasons unexplained, I can't resist the urge to tease John at every possible opportunity.  So I was just funnin'......

Oops - how do you edit a post on here?  I gave Jon an "h" he doesn't need and I don't know how to fix it.

Dan:  You can modify your own posts (users can, in fact, not just Mr. Dan Stokes) for a few hours after the post is posted.  I think it's four or maybe it's six hours.  After that -- all you can do is get in touch with me and beg for forgiveness and modifications.  Want me to de-aitch my name?

Something to think about is a special pit pass for the final and have everyone sign a guest book. It will mean a lot down the road for historical values. Also a group picture of all vehicles lined up along the course.
