Seating-classification ruling
« on: October 09, 2011, 02:58:11 PM »
Hopefully this will be easy.

Nissan 240 sx... seats according to the SCTA rules 2 or 4 adults in comfort?

Talon-Laser-Eclipse... seats according to the SCTA rules 2 or 4 adults in comfort?

Trying to figure if these vehicles fall into gas coupes or Modified sports classes, all things equal.

Thanks for the input folks........

Gas Coupe - contact Jim Miller as per rulebook, section16, page 172.

No official answers here.

In the Coupe/Sedan rules commitee this has come up many times and if my memory is correct, the answer is the 240Z (2+2) comes under the rules of "Production" not "Modified Sports". But if the Production car (240Z) has a engine swap, or Quick change rear end or Non-Stock supercharger, then it would fall into the "Gas Coupe" class. For reference go to the 2011 Rule Book and read para 5.e. (read the bold print). If you still have questions or want a 100% reading on this contact Bobby Sykes, Jr who is our chairman for Coupe/Sedan rules committe, he can be reached at "drylakes207@yahoo.com"
 Hope this helps, Dave

So I guess that Jim Miller, the GT/Mod Sports Chair and the person who wrote the rule will not have the correct response?

I don't get it.

I'll be they both come up with the same answer... without having a conference... seats 2, GT and MS; seats 4, production and gas coupe.

Yes, GT/Mod Jim and Coupe/Sedan Bobby Jr committees got together and established the rule in a joint venture.
