First time to Maxton
« on: October 22, 2011, 11:31:53 AM »
Hey everyone!
Ill just keep it to one post and introduce myself here.
Planning on making it to Maxton next week.   My dad and I are going to pack up the van and make the drive from Madison, WI (Me from the Twin Cities area)
Bringing a 1971 Trackmaster Triumph 750 and maybe a 1949 125 HD Hummer if it works out. (Bottom end currently still seized from Bonneville)

We have not gotten our Rule Book ordered since we started the process late and the site was down.
My question, Are the safety tech rules the same as Bonneville?
Both our bikes have passed tech at Bonneville multiple years.
The Triumph has gone 124 at Bonneville with a small upper fairing, not looking to go much faster then that.

We have been meaning to make it to Maxton for awhile now.   Looks like this is going to be the time to go.
Looking forward to a quick vacation down south from school.

Thanks!

if you can pass SCTA tech you should be fine.

Thanks!
Currently prepping all the drain plugs for safety wire, not a SCTA requirement but thought it may be different for the asphalt strip.
A few more little details and we should be ready.

Trying to get the bike ready for a bike show down in Chicago today before the showing of The Salt Ghost at the Bottom Lounge

Hey, Patrick -

Are you bringing the Sheboygan Brats, or am I?  :-D

I'll look for you.

Wiring drain plugs is a good idea - alot of us do, but it's not mandatory. Any non captive axle nuts do have to be wired. Can't have too many Brit bikes -- represent. There will probably be some "wired" folks Sat. night.

Fixgeer-
That bike looks louder than my Honda when I had the 250-4stroke engine with a straightpipe.  Now it has a nice quiet tuned pipe with a 125-2stroke....so it now sounds like a mosquito.
But I hope your bike has a steering dampener on the other side where the photo does not show.

Relaxed-
With your nom de phorum of "RelaxedPhit" I assume you will not be wired on Sat PM.

Jarl - sadly no- I've had my life's supply of beer as well as two or three other's. And even IF it has been seven years, I surely would not acknowledge that I've given Con-Ed a run for their money. Keith Richards is the my hero.
