Hunh?  Is the exit in jeopardy?  We use that one and the other two during our stays in Wendover -- but the one nearest your store, Mike, and the new building -- is the easiest to use for getting off the interstate highway.  Easy 'cause of the long deceleration lane and curve, easy 'cause there's no stop and then left turn at the bottom of a short hill.  Easy 'cause there are no homeless folks begging for money and promising to bless us - standing at the corner, mostly 'cause there isn't a corner.  And very important -- easy ''cause the sight lines are good from the top of the bridge over the interstate to the points where the sheriff's deputies like to hang out with their radar units.  It's 40 mph once you're over the bridge, ladies and gentlemen, and it's easier to simply slow down than it is to suddenly throw out the anchor and hope your reflexes are better than those of the po-leese.

Do we need to start a "Save the Exit" effort?

Seriously - I agree that the exit's demise would be a bad thing for the entire east end of Wendover, and the museum being there will be a tremendous asset for the entire community.

In my opinion closing that exit would kill that location for the museum.
People need to physically see the museum to want to stop and go in.............   Bob

Also since the site has a working Bill board we put up 5000.00 to paint and put the graphics on it.

wow, OK people when I mean save the exit, I mean increase the amount of traffic. There is no plans on closing it as far as I know, but the traffic flow into town with that exit has been reduced. With the new museum site and future development to the area ( there is over 70 acres there) we hope to increase the traffic flow and thus help ALL OF WENDOVER. Remember I were several hats in this wonderful town and need to look at the big picture. But its nice to know that some of my post are being read, so thank you!

Mr. Mayor Mike. I think all of the posts are being read and with a lot of interest. As one who was there in 1953 and remember what the town was like and driving to the salt , crossing over to the big sign with Cobb,s car on it was something I will never forget. My very 1st picture at Bonneville. I got salt fever within minutes and it changed my life and motor sports has been a big part of it.

The thought of having a great museum for Bonneville land speed racing is just awesome. The old Dixon Bonneville museum was something I visited on every trip to the salt. Seeing the old Thermo-king stream liner setting out front was a eye catcher, going inside and seeing the Summers Bros and the Burkland cars as well as the many pictures could cause one to spend a few hours just looking.

I have some things I will donate when the time comes to start decorating and having things for others to enjoy what we have watched grow over the year.
Thank you and John and the city of Wendover for making this happen.

Glen ,off the subject, but could you give us the secret of your longevity ? I notice your age has been 76 since 2004 but mine moves ahead each year. I'd just like to slow down my aging  :-D

After last month's WOS event, I stopped by and spent some time at Wendover Airfield. I wanted to look around, see the Enola Gay hanger. Seeing a real once top secret Norden Bomb Site was a real treat, as well.

I mentioned to the nice gal selling me a tee shirt and frig magnet, that it was a shame someone doesn't build a Bonneville LSR museum... Her eyes got wide and said one was soon to come! I was stoked!

We'd have the hanger where the Enoly Gay and her crew trained before her world changing and war ending historic missions, and an LSR museum in one location!

Any help from ya'll would be greatly appreciated. I can be contacted at jag1046@hotmail.com or 309-241-4715

Many thanks

A private registration created in February 2011? I hope I am wrong but looks like someone is trying make a buck by selling the name back.  John did your organization file for the salesmark, trademark and copyright protection?  If not, I would do that ASAP.  Tony

NO WAY in hell would I pay for the use of the name as shown.

Use a different name for the web site and do it quick.   :-P

.... saltflats, bonneville, landspeedracing, and add museum.

You can still call the museum what you want but the web site will be a bit different, let that anass sit on that address.   8-)
