Some where around 10:30am the rains stopped and the sun tried to come out,,, the track drying parade began and approx Noon today we started making runs. I left the track at 5:45 and they where still lined up and running.
All in all a great day at Maxton for me and my Studebaker. 2 runs and 2 class records.
First run was a perfect easy lazy shifting run with the new motor and no wind at all... went 183.97 mph on a 166.xx record,,, nice bump and point run,,,,
Second run I got very greedy,,,, I could feel a low 190 even in the bad afternoon air,,, then as I was staged the darn windsock filled with what was about a 10mph head wind...I was greedy and I nailed it off the push truck, blazed the tires and went sideways, gathered it up hit second and roasted the tires again,,, hit 3rd hard at the bump and jumped far right, had to steer back left while going in high gear,, then the ride was over,,,, only a 183.7 but on a 177.3 record (that 177.3 bumped my 177.2,, so I was glad to get my previoud record back)
Oh well, the air may be better in the morning,,, with me luck on a smooth 190 + pass..
