Hello,

My name is Thom.   I have finally reached the point in my life I can embark on my goal of running at bonneville.   I plan to run in '07.  Attached is the lakester i am building, going to power it with a busa motor.  Any and all help is welcome.   I spent several weekends in 04 at El Mirage and could not get enough.   I passed through Bonneville twice that year, only to sit on the salt alone for two hours taking it all in.  To me it is my Mecca.  Once again, thanks for giving me this opportunity to ask questions and learn from you.

Thom
Welcome to LR.COM. Nice concept, looks like a twin to the famous Tom Beatty tank from the 50s & 60s. Good luck with your project. Hope to see you on the salt.

Nice work fella , I'll confess to being a little biased....but that's a neat lookin' jigger....are you using an original tank or making the body?..here's a tip .....don't listen to what anybody tells you unless they think it's a great idea and a worthwhile pursuit , if they're a drag racer take their advice with a grain of salt , if thems LSR folk then you won't need the additional shake. What you hear from them here is the real deal , even if it's a little conundrous(JD) at times .....keep us informed of your progress....

Nice concept, but I feel you have to look at the competion. The Haybusa runs in the H engine class.
Bockscar H/FL 228.039, H/GL 228.039

Hardman H/BGL 198.859

Jones / Geisler & Zickrick H/BFL 160.577

Very classic design. I'd look at the aero at that speed. The short wheel base isn't the answer. The tail fin adds stability.
I'd put a turbo on it and run fuel. The H/BFL record is the slowest.

Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

Nice looking car.  I'm in the process also of building a motorcycle powered lakester.  I'm starting in the J class, but now wish I would have spent the extra money on a 'busa myself.  I'm trying to make the car with the intention of running one in the future and it would be blown.

If your first goal is to run over 200 and the second is a record then the busa is the way to go in my opinion.  That was my priorities and is why I probably should have gone with the busa myself, but at the time I didn't know that much about them.  I'll learn what I can with what I now have and keep the busa option for the future.

What ever you do I'm sure you will have fun.  I have Cheesy
