Thanks for the update Warner, I knew you would clear that up.
Moxnix, thanks for the audio, some text and writing would be nice to accompany the audio maybe some pics. I know all are busy, but some cannot get the audio, but I think everybody can read updates just not all can listen to updates. So if you were not on audio you would think things are not going out there.
The audio is awesome that I listened to yesterday.

Jon, we just discussed this a couple of hours ago. The second computer rigged up here at Landracing's pit is a netbook, on which I tap out big words with big fingers on the tiny keyboard. Hopefully we can find someone to put up record runs and other constant flow of info tomorrow. We do have the daily webcast archived for listening later.

Other then a couple of glitchs it's been live all day. The 130/150 courses aren't connected according to Ron. They are doing their best for the first live broadcast. Keep it up you guys.

Runs are over for the day due to a incident with a motorcycle. They are moving the courses at this time so all will be fresh in the AM. Jon, Ron and all thanks for the the live broadcast. Have a good sallt talks tonight. |

Some folks have to run 300 and 400 mph+ to get a record and get in the 200 mph club... |

On 9-27-08 we lost a great friend and fellow racer, he was the BEST, he helped anyone with anything at anytime. His name is Dave Owen and he will be missed by all that knew him and I am glad to have met him.
Seeing him at Bonneville during 2008 Speedweek was the tops, Dave was in awe of the salt and as usual was there helping out anyone who asked..simply put we lost a great man who will be missed by all.

I set a 219.648 MPH record in 2010 SW. The minimum is 220 MPH in the F/BFMR Class. NO HAT |

Here are some photos of the Granite Falls HS Urban Concept car as they approached the starting line and launched. I delayed my run until They ran cuz I wanted to get some photos of their activities/preparation/run.
Tim, the driver and Micheal Werner, the instructor, display their special power adder device.
Tim models his brand-new firesuit.
The mainspring gets one final tweak.
The driver gets comfy in his gloves before the hatches are closed.

The next 4 photos show the car as it leaves the line and heads down the salt to a top speed of 26 mph and change. Since the car was built for fuel economy and not top speed, it's a huge accomplishment just to make that run.

And then there was my second run. I had a little wheelspin in first, but when I got into 2nd, it pulled strong, then thru 3rd and into 4th. The GPS showed 137 and I was feeling pretty good about the run when it went BANG!!! and I felt/heard something thrashing around under the car. It was the driveshaft which went to h*ll when the pinion yoke snapped. It beat itself into a pretzel shape, punched some holes in the floor pan and destroyed the exhaust. Marlo, Dick and Korey were good enough to come rescue me. They were gonna put the car on the trailer, but there's no way to drive it on and it can't be pulled from the front without hurting the front air dam. So they decided that since Marlo had experience at racing cars in reverse (we won't pursue that any further) that he'd steer the car as they pulled it back to the pits with a tow strap wrapped around the rear shock mounts. Eventually they decided this wasn't such a good idea and wrapped the tow strap around the A pillars across the dashboard and brought it back to the pits nose first. I'm VERY grateful for the help I got from all the Target 550 guys. If it hadn't been for their help, I probably wouldn't have made a single run. I learned a TON of stuff from them (at the expense of any pride and ego I might have had left) and even got to wear a pink GFHS t-shirt today. I think that might be a good thing.  Anyway, the car's finished for this event (this year) but I'll be back having learned more than I wanted to, but with salt fever still intact. |
