Switch from /BVGCC to /BGCC ?
« on: September 10, 2011, 11:44:25 AM »

After reading the rule book several times, I think I can do this, but I'm not positive.

If I added a MSD ignition, so that I would have a rev limiter, and could reference boost for timing, would I move from XXO/BVGCC to the XXO/BGCC?

Thanks in advance!
With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine. However, this is not necessarily a good idea. It is hard to be sure where they are going to land, and it could be dangerous sitting under them as they fly overhead. -- RFC 1925

...or would that move me to 'c' engine designation?

BGCC has both XO and XXO classes, the difference is you will be running against turbos and electronics. Take a look at the Salt Cat and what they are running or the Harris and Wester entry form this years Speed Week.  I don't think you need to make any changes to switch.  Tony

Thanks Tony!

I would have to make changes to switch, or I would remain in my class. I just wasn't sure if the changes would change just the car classification, or if it would change the engine from XXO to a 'C' engine. I wasn't clear if electronics weren't allowed only on Vintage classes, or vintage engines i.e. XXO.

I have sent the question to the proper officials, but it takes a while to get answers, especially with El Mirage and WOS this week.

I believe in vintage only certian MSD style boxes are allowed. I am not familiar with which ones by number. You may want to contact Pat Riley the treasurer of the SCTA. He is faimliar with what is allowed. He has a Vintage Gas Coupe.....Good Luck

Thanks Jimmy!

I have sent a note of to Pat and Doug Robinson in Vintage, and Bobby Sykes in Classic/Modified. I'm sure that I'll hear something in a week or two.
