Dynoroom, you'd be surprised to know the Saad - Teague -  Bentley photographer.

He's real close . . . to your post!

I.B. I'd be happy to give credit to the shooter of the roadster, I'd even throw in the "Kitchen" sink if it would help?

Dynoroom, you're too good!

The original has been enhanced, not Photoshopped, but for composition I've been told, by a student of Matthew Brady!

Taken in 2004 (I think).  It was for sale at the time.

I also liked the light in the Austin Healy pit and got this shot, which due to the reflection and reversed image of the Dunlop logo showing through the canopy you can read the logo in the reflection.

The Teague photo does not belong here -- this is a salt site!

(But it is the best photo I ever took.)

Folks,

In trying to contribute what I can at the present, a search of the forum threads doesn't appear to yield a thread dedicated to artistic pictures from salt flats around the world. One of my favourite threads on another forum I frequent, with a different subject matter, allows folks to post their artistic photos and it's pretty popular. I believe that great photographs of salt flats and land speed racing can and will inspire future generations of racers and might go some way to preserving endangered salt flats and land speed racing on them.

Rules, well there aren't any. However, I'd like to suggest some guidelines.

  • The pictures should be somewhat artistic (in the beholder's eye) and in good taste...
  • The pictures should have been taken at a salt flat venue round the world
[/size]
  • The picture can have been taken at any time in the past or present
  • You should preferably own the copyright to the image. If not, please credit the source
  • Please include any information that can identify the venue, date and subject if known
  • If you are going to link the pictures in from a separate site as opposed to uploading them, please try to ensure that the picture will be available there for the foreseeable future. There's nothing more annoying than a great picture that disappears because the link or end storage location vanished.
  • If you wish, identify the camera and settings or editing program with which the picture was shot or created

I look forward to seeing the pictures and associated stories from folks.

Regards,

Jim

Mr. Back, our friend who started this thread did indeed say "salt flat venue" but as he added around the world and there are only a few such places (even less raced on) that he meant LSR venues. He is from Canada after all....... Kidding  :-D

Maybe Stan can identify this motly crew........ at Bonneville  :-)

There are always exceptions to the rules, even in Canada  :-D especially for great pictures, although preferably of the artistic kind...
Yeah, I know salt LSR venues are few and far between. I considered an all encompassing "artistic photo" thread but went the course I took. I'd happily take artistic pics from the Pendine sands in Wales too :-D

Keep the great pics coming please. I'm hoping the thread will still be alive many months and perhaps years to come. Thanks & Cheers.
