IF they are mounted, drop air pressure to 25-30 psi, use a rubber protectant such as formula 303 aerospace spray, or meguires rubber protectant, and keep them covered (even flourescent light's will deteriorate rubber Don't use armorall or any cheap sh-t.)       Bob

Marvin Rifchen, the M in M&H and who used to make LSR tires, said store them in the dark and coat them with carnuba wax.

I place them in large black trash bags after coating. I use a vacuum cleaner to suck out all the air I can and tape up the bags and keep then in a unlit shed...Good Luck

Any truth that the date may determine whether can use the tire regardless of the condition? I think BUB is implimenting this protocol.

Mine are stored in hefty bags in a cool dark place. As for the wax..............what do you use to clean them up before use? Or don't you?

I don't know.  Need someone older than me to ask.

Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

I presume you're asking about car tires, but here's a comment that's applicable to bikes - and your question.  SCTA rules state that "street" tires must be stamped by the manufacturer with the date (month & year) of manufacture.  Race-only tires do not have that restriction.  I don't know about Bub's/AMA rules, as usual.

I refered to BUB 'rules' since Mad Max at one point had been told he couldn't run the Firestones from Arfon's / Teague
projects due to the age / date. Later said he could run this year.
