WTB: 28-29 Model A Roadster Body
« on: August 25, 2011, 03:41:21 PM »
I'm looking for a fairly clean and straight steel 28-29 Model A roadster body.  Resurrecting a hulk of swiss cheese from a creek bed is beyond my sheet metal skills so something that's more metal than rust would be good.  I have a 29 Tudor Sedan body that I can either sell or trade that's a 9 out of 10 as far as condition goes.

Looking for something in So Cal but I am willing to travel for pickup.  Thanks!

there is a cowl and doors on the HAMB classifieds. Might be worth looking into anyway?

Good lookin' out Tony, thanks.  I found a 28-29 in Canada but that's a bit further away than I'm willing to deal with.

If the Canadian body is primo the trip may be cheaper than the restoration of something that you find closer to home.

Nathan...Last good 28-9 Roadster body I found up here was 5500--Call Duane at Kiwi Konnection/California Roadster Co in Bakersfield and get his price on a new Brookville body....I`ll try not to be too upset if our `chop by Email` programme will be cancelled... :-D

Well shit... I'm one indecisive dude.  I guess I will put the sedan body on the frame I built to at least see how it looks.  What's holding me back is having to cut the sub rails so the frame kick up can tuck up into the body.  If I wind up not using the sedan body I don't want to have unnecessarily cut it.  I guess I can get away with cutting them along the length of the body and then just bending them up and not completely cutting them out.

Brookville bodies are in the $10k range which is too much for me.  $1200 for a cowl and doors seems awefully high to me.  The body in Canada is going for $3500 and looks pretty alright.  But there again, my sedan body is seriously almost too nice to get rid of.  Ugh.

I'll keep my eye out because it seems like every once in a while something good pops up but they only pop up when I'm not looking for them.

Where in Canada Nathan? If it's in the west it may not be a bad trip while if it's toward the east then it may be formidable.

There is a 28 Ford Roadster for sale in Great Falls Mt. Mostly complete, not a rusted hulk. Look at 28 Ford on Craigs List-3000.00.

Got an idea!

Stan Back's roadster body is pretty original and he's had it for FIFTY years. Thats enough time for anybody to own parts like those. Besides, he's got the three wheeled Mercury sedan, the Grand National trophy winning Plymouth, his truck,  and his daily driver, the Holden, that's a sorta smallblock - powered Pontiac.

 A really nice fleet.

The NASCAR motors in CSR have made it really tough for Stan to compete (even though there's been no one faster at ElMo - the fast guys all spin, but then they do that on the salt also). Maybe he could trade you a legal Polyform body for his steel one!

With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine. However, this is not necessarily a good idea. It is hard to be sure where they are going to land, and it could be dangerous sitting under them as they fly overhead. -- RFC 1925

I'd guess that he has a current-model Pontiac GTO.

wikipedia.org: "The 21st century GTO is essentially a left-hand drive Holden Monaro, itself a coupe variant of the Holden Commodore."
