The Kix-Henderson crew had an unbelievable week with the truck... we unloaded strong from the trailer and got faster every run!!!
I ran the truck down the long course early on Sunday and upped the six year standing record by 6mph with a 216 pass. The windy backup run was only 211, so the new record was set at 213 and change, and I joined the 2 club!
Kris Henderson abandoned his normal driving position in the Jag and jammed himself into the truck to bust off a 217, backing it up the next morning for a new record, and membership to the 2 club!
We kept making adjustments in ride height, rake, and some carb tuning and got Chris Coffey up to a 218 for the now standing record. Chris also joined the 2 club with that record!
We pulled out all the stops on Thursday morning and I ran course one out the back door at 222mph... it was a pretty crazy ride downcourse and I almost pulled the chute three times before the end of mile 5, but we were in impound once again! Unfortunately, Friday morning was grey and extremely windy, the run was going well up to about 175mph when a wind gust blew me off the course and around.... so no backup on the 222. The left rear tire blew on the spin, but the truck was solid and stable on the ground through the whole event.... looks like the only damage was the wheel/tire/moon disc.
Bill Reilly had more than his fair share of problems this week, but never gave up and was able to get the car back together for a last day pass at over 200mph! Way to go Bill!!!
Overall, we fulfilled an impossible dream and I got to drive the truck to 222 mph on the Big Boy course at Bonneville and have a time slip to prove it....... thrilling... absolutely thrilling! Thanks to everyone that helped us along the way... especially the Turks and the Timneys for letting us wear out their cell phones and their ears getting this thing together!!!
