As others have already mentioned, Bill disserves all the accolades for this monumental moment is LSR history. I thought when guys hit the 250 mark it was incredible. Then Bill was knocking down 270 passes at every event he attended. This year for the first full pass of the race bike Bill shattered the 300 mark. He’s such a modest individual and took all of this fabulous success in stride. He’s dedicated his life to reach this goal. His hard work and perseverance showed with his smooth 311 run down the Loring runway.

You did it Bill!

Bill, it has been a total thrill for those of us slow guys in Land Speed Racing to watch your project unfold and develop over the last few years.  But now that you have reached this landmark speed you need to know how much you make us smile, laugh, and then shake our heads in amazement.  What a moment in LSR History!!  Thanks from us to you and your team.

anybody know why he was smoking so much at the line.  was that tire smoke doing a burnout or was that out the exhaust?

it was out the exhaust. No issues though just a little buildup. It did make for a dramatic start.

I imagine there is quite a bit of pressure in those cylinders with that monster turbo so I can see a bit getting past the rings!!

He went 311 MPH. so in my opinion the question should be "how do I make my vehicle smoke exactly like that at the line"   :-P

From what I heard at the Maxton test the turbo was mounted really low and in slow to drain back.

Congrats to Bill and team on a fantastic accomplishment. Truly amazing.

The bike sounds awesome. I could listen to it all day.

I figured it was him warming the tire - even though I know he's got tire warmers and uses them right up to the moment when he goes to the front of the line.  Listen and you'll hear the engine revving and it sounds like it's under load.  The crew member holds the bike while he burns out, then lets go and Bill left instantly.  Maybe I'm wrong, maybe not.  If Bill ever gets done doing all of the morning talk shows and radio and newspaper reporters -- maybe he'll get back on line and tell us.

As for making the link(s) into stickies -- well, sure, I could do that.  I'd put both that I've seen -- him leaving the line (tire smoke or engine oil) and also the helmet camera.  I'll wait to make sure I've got the URLs correct.  If there's another video - please send the information on that/them to me, too.

Yes it was out the exhaust and there was no pile of rubber left at the start.
