HI I'm new here My Brother Randy aka "easy" and I aka "cheap" caught this dry lakes bug thing a couple three years ago. Kinda burned out on drag racing. So one thing leedin to another , and very nice parts donations thought We'ed build a F-B-G-L . So here's what the last 7 months have resulted in . :cheers:

Well, Bruce -- you've already learned that we (on this Forum) have a sense of humor. Sometimes it's a tad on the biting side, sometimes not. But we'd sure like to hear about your build, and see it, too. No matter how far along you are, no matter if you've got an event date in mind -- we'd be happy to follow along and help you if you want it.

Ok. It was just most builds start with :cheers:, soon followed with more :cheers:, and inviting others over for :cheers: to discuss how it might be going. 8-)

Looks SoCal, Dodge Plymouth, and likely light an engine. Also looks like an older photograph.
I'm not sure that's the easy way to get to a lakester, but some might use the engine. If you've already had years of experience and lots of parts for a particular engine series, that is a good start. If you're starting and only have a 1+ garage then a workbench sized engine 500cc/750cc would be cheaper. The big if here would be if Dodge powered is more fun go with it.
The whole point is getting what you have to run at it's best and have a smile on your face because you did it. IMO

Interesting design for a Special Construction car. They just say you can't use an existing car body. Don't say you cant hammer out your own that looks like a '66 MoPar. But I think your going to have to go back and read the rules a little more closely on wheel/tire location. And start stacking up the wheel spacers if you want to run Lakester.

There is "NO" CHEAP & EASY build for a race car. I've got my planned project already over $50K, and it's still on paper and in my head, I haven't bought a single piece of tubing yet to start the cage, and I'm still looking for the right car for the project.

Just priced DOM tubing yesterday and its $4.75 per foot. I remember we use to buy that stuff for about $2 per foot not to long ago. Tony

Man "cheap" is a word that if fast leaving any kind of racing, I just bought 2 sheets, 4'x10', of .063 3003 aluminum and they were just short of $200 each! Sure glad I work cheap!

Welcome aboard - trust me when I say I could use an economics lesson on race car building. If it is a Mopar you're working on, fast and cheap will indeed be a unique combination.

Unfortunately, Flattie used my guidelines - if there's still food or beer in the fridge, you're under budget.

Reading Cheap's intro I think you will find that Chaep and Easy are nicknames for Bruce and his co-conspirator. I am sure they realize that 'cheap and easy' are not in the LSR vocabulary.

I agree with Tony.... my real job is Financial Planning/Investments/Insurance/Retirement Plans with 26 years experience you would think I could make and keep to a race build budget,,,, WRONG,,, logic goes out the window when the emotion and the need for speed take over...Life is short,,, Just Build it ....

Sounds like Seems to me that it was the propster back in 2008 whining about all of the "slow" records set at Speedweek. :mrgreen:

I don't mind so called "slow" records. That's what the classes are for. I am not enthralled by the record speeds themselves - just saying.
