Title: WILL THIS TIRE WORK????????????????????
Post by: FADED on April 27, 2011, 09:37:53 PM
I found this front tire that looks like it might fit my bike well. Pt#3210. Is it a legal tire to run El Mirage? I dont want to get out there and not let me run it.

Gee -- I'm not a biker -- but I can almost guarantee you that it's legal on a 50cc PP.  What are you running?

come on now,,,,,, its 100cc A/G :-D. there are still requirements, the tire must be rated for 130mph in my class, What I was questioning is its not rated??.

Lance,

How does "must be rated" relate to "not rated"?

Lance.  Don't get upset with Stan.  Stan is our resident motorcycle expert.  He's just a little weak when it comes to tires.  Your question would be best put to Tom Evans.  Tires have to be rated but in the back of my mind there is something about tires for competition only.  E-mail Tom and he will tell you right away.  Interesting tire.

I talked with Mickey Thompson and they said it will never hold up on a landspeed bike. It was designed for 1/4 mile at a time?????? I told em my bike has a hard time going 70mph. My concern was getting out there and not passing tech. I'll run what I got. As far as Stan, I have thick skin.

I can attest to the disappointment of getting thrown out of tech.  Better safe than sorry.  Did you e-mail Tom?

My comment was only to note that you hadn't told us what kinda bike you were going to put it on.  And that matters.

Excuse my ignorance, but do slicks on M/C's do OK in the dirt at Elmo?  I'd think some tread pattern would keep the excitement down somewhat. :?
