Title: Anthony Young's C/FRMR
Post by: Seldom Seen Slim on January 18, 2011, 12:17:37 PM
Glen sent this to me yesterday - and here's the first batch of photos of this tasty-looking car he's built.  Here's his email:

'Jon

These build photos are from Anthony Young one of the forum members and he would like the photos attached to the build diaries. My computer is screwed up and I just installed a new wireless router and working with the mfg. to get it working. Can you please post them for him. He will be joining us soon on the chat etc. This is a really nice rear engine roadster. BTW he is not new to this and worked with Al Teague on his stuff.

Thanks
Glen"

Like a 1927 T-Roadster. Jon has a few more pictures to post. Anthony has been around a while and races at the dry lakes. He rebuilt Al Teagues roadster #76 and also drove it to 220 mph. That car is now in a private museum in Salt Lake. Anthony has 4 early hemi's for the car.As he works nights he can't really get on the chat line.

Anthony and Glen --

I've sort of lost track of where I dropped off when posting the last batch of photos, so maybe I've missed one (or more), maybe there's a duplicate here.  Let me know - or send me some more if you'd like me to post them.  I'm storing them up on photobucket (the Seldom Seen Slim Bonneville 2010 folder) if any of youse guys want to see all of the pics from this past SW.

Oh, crap -- I think I got lost during that little session of swapping photos around, including maybe I deleted some when moving them from one album to another on Photobucket.  Anthony or Glen -- let me know which ones just disappeeared (if you can figure it out) and I'll put 'em back.  To the rest of you:  Let this be a lesson to you -- that you shouldn't believe in the omnipotence of the guy that owns the website.  I'm just a racer that types really fast, okay?

Ah, for instance, here's a nice close up and a few others, again of which some might be dupes:

And here's a photo of the culprit that's responsible for the car (I think this is Anthony):

Hopefully Anthony's is OK but mine, as his, tapers towards the front were there is no longer 2'' side to side but less.
I can fix mine by mounting it foward more and mikeymouseing it in and giving me less room to get out.

Anthony ...does Doug Nash make a bigger input shaft than the stock chev. We twisted one and twisted the replacement in two. Thats when we went to the Owens with overdrive and bigger shaft. We never had a problem otherwise. The gears looked brand new with no metal in oil and no problem with quick change gears,

i do not know for sure, but i dought that this style of trans comes with a larger dia shaft, i bought this trans from john rank , he used it in his modified he went to a 4 or 5 speed i know that everything was coated incl the gears. the first time that i have an issue with this trans i will put a lenco or owens most likely an owens ,lets see if it will pull a gear under a load ,also we can always make a larger dia shaft we will see  thanks anthony

Owens might be able to make a bigger shaft if you have problems, its nice to have the quick change gears to get the gearing
above 2.5 to 1. and what ever gearing you need. One Owens unit [2 speed] with overdrive measures 13''  front of case to bearing support end + 31/2'' output shaft which can be shortened. If you need a spare doug nash, I have one with a shortened input shaft :-D
Also the Owens overdrive doesn't shift its always in overdrive.

Doug Nash is out of business. As I recall Richmond Gear now makes some of the old Doug Nash products.

 Very nice rear engine roadster Anthony, I was wondering about the new 65% rule that states;
In addition to the general category requirements, cars in this class shall have a production or an exact replica of a roadster body as produced between 1923 and 1938. The combined body area covered or altered by the headrest fairing, all parachute fairings, and any other allowed body protuberances or displacements, from the original cockpit opening to the rear of the car cannot exceed 65%, as measured in a horizontal plane from the top view.
I'm not trying to stir anything up it's just an observation. I'm not sure I fully understand the rule.

Just a guess, but based on my observation of the pics, I'll wager that Anthony's pretty much right on the money as far as being in compliance with that new rule.     :-D    Funny how our design wasn't allowed to be run (for record qual. or record run) the past 2 years although this rule wasn't in the book then.  It covered approx. 95%. No biggie, we set a pretty stout record anyway ( #325 D/GRMR 243.618, exit 244.721.  You know, the one Tom G. and Pat K like so much )   :-D   Anthony, I really like your car and hope y'all kick a**.     vic
