Although Im a custom kind of bike builder I aquired a 1985 Honda vfr 500 I am building to run next year. My plans are simple lower it a little and stretch it out a little, full fairings running on gas. Would this be a production class? If so what class? P/P???????????????? I'm not sure how the system works? I know, I read the rule book but I couldnt fiqure it out?

Lowering it or stretching it makes it an Altered partially streamlined bike..APS-G..
At El mo we do not have an "M" class or Modified class...
If the bike looked 100% to stock Minus paint and safety items then the bike could run in the P-P class

Production class means just that. You cannot make any changes at all to the frame, wheels, exhaust, period. You especially cannot add fairings to a production class. It must be kept looking 100% stock.

I just dug it out of a guys backyard after sitting for nine years :-o not to much to look at yet but we'll have her out in may.......................hopefully.

you can change wheels if it is necessary to obtain tires that meet the tire ( speed ) requirements willie buchta

This is only my 2cnd post on this great website. I live in Hesperi Ca. and have been going to ElMirage since the late 60's with my late father.I would like to compete at scta events but have no experience with that type of competition at all. I've bought rule books for many different years,just because I've always found it so interesting. I am a motorcycle guy.I have been in very many competitive evnents on motorcycles,however none with street bikes or land speed bikes etc. I guess you have to belong to a club or run as a guest at first.I have been a life member of the A.M.A. since 1987, and district 37 competition rider since 1973.I am a welder.Dad,Husband,and dog lover. Where do I begin>????Anyways, I will be talking to more people this next year. Is there a particular club that is a bit more motorcycle oriented? Or does it matter? Thanks in advance. Gary.

The BUB Speed Trials is an AMA sanctioned bike event. There is no need to belong to a club to race there. There is a link to the BUB trials on the home page for this website. A couple of us race new Triumph twins like the one on your avatar.

Thanks. Yeah I follow B.U.B. too. I have a 1998 Triumph sprint triple that i wanted to run.As stated above, I am a life member of ama. Memeber of the Jackrabbits M.C. since 1988.I am pretty interested in running at ElMirage too though since it is so close to where I live. There was a guy in our club who raced cars out there,Demming was his last name. But he passed away a couple of years ago.

The Road Runners meet monthly in Riverside, just off the 91 Freeway. Good percentage of bike riders, too. Meet next Tuesday -- check their website on the SCTA-BNI site.
