Title: GM tattle tail electronics
Post by: Texican on September 03, 2010, 11:56:05 PM

Late model GM with onstar and spying module

Is there a way to defeat the tattle tail, big brother, aspects of late model GM units?
I'd like to try for a 130 club in an '09 chavy and we'll have to do something about the 98 mph rev-limiter, and the recording module, or just not worry about the warranty.
Any good ideas out there?
Thanks,
Jim

I think aftermkt programers have that ability

For GM products there should be a host of after market programmers, depending on the engine.  Make sure you get one that keeps your original program so you can put it back in just incase you need to get it worked on under warrenty.  Several years back a guy run his new GTO with the ausie engine, in the 150 club, forgot to remove his drivline loops, blew the engine up a few months later GM said sorry you've been racing this car no warrenty.

I have a hypertech program in my 454 vortech programed for economy and 85 octane, and it retains the original factory program in the programmer, in case I need to put it back.  Haven't ever found anything for my 3.5 liter LHS yet, it shuts off at 117 MPH with 2700 left to red line could be worse the same set up is in the Prowlers.

  Thanks, guys:
I'll do some research.
I don't think running WFO at about 4500 RPM for a few minutes should scuttle the mill; but one never knows.

OK!
Here's what we did and the results .
A jet Stage 2 chip: about like a full or 3/4 race cam for the entire spectrum from 2 K on.
Still had atop speed cutoff at 98. A beautiful harmonic roar at full song all the way from appetite to
well, you know.

No loss of driveabilty on the highway.
10 gallons of ERC 101 unleaded.
Woke it from the get-go.

I'll leave it configured, except for the open pipe for the next round trip to view the shootout.
Perhaps with a little conservative driving, it may deliver improved mileage, as advertised.
DOES require premium; the guy said you could get some help from octane booster.
Report to follow.

Jim
