Title: few questions about running in the mod motorcycle class

hello
im looking to build and run my first bike with the ECTA.  i have this years rule book and have read the motorcycle class parts.
im looking to run in the modified class with a honda CB125 but have a few questions
-as long as im using a stock frame can i add bracing to the rear of it?  all would just be bars on the inside under the seat.  these would not change wheelbase or suspension geometry.
-can i change the front forks to something off of a bigger honda motorcycle?
-i can run "clip on" bars as long as they are taller then the wheels?

i know that they might sound like dumb questions
i have built a few cafe racers and would love to build a small bike to run at ecta and maybe one day on the salts but want to do it the right way the first  time

Should have no problems with the frame changes you mentioned for modified class.

things like removing unused tabs and stuff is also ok?
i guess that falls under modifing for racing but wanted to know at what point you have to stop before it changes class

can you cut off the rear of the frame that is not used?

yes i do.

so if the rule book says that you cant then i can right?
its the first time im building something to a class so thats why i have so many odd questions

acording to the ecta rulebook you can change forks and wheels  7.F and 7.F.7--  yes you can modify the frame as long as it retains the stock geometry  7.F ( line 7 )  yes you can use clip on bars  7.F ( line 12 ) -----------  hope that helps                    willie buchta

Nice weather and hoping the course is moved back a few hundred feet so we have a better run up for a better top speed..

and as i understand it i can change the tank to anything else as long as its more then 5L and stay in the mod class right?

thanks again for all the help.

As long as the replacement tank has a capacity of more than 5 liters it's okay for Modified class.  You might, for instance, elect to change the shape of the stock tank to allow the rider to get into a better tuck.  That's common.  Another way that's been tried to circumvent the maximum of 5L rule is to "stuff" the more-than-5L tank with something -- maybe an inner tube, for instance -- and have the resulting capacity be less than 5L.  It's a lame way to do it and is highly frowned upon -- to the point that you might just have a difficult time getting through inspection that way.

Slim,
The rule is a minimum of 5 liters not a maximum. I believe your thinking is backwards.
