Title: - Track Fuel ?? -
Post by: Warp12 on June 22, 2010, 12:48:31 PM
Who is providing track fuel these days?? What blends are trackside?

Is there still the ability to bring sealed fuel and run in a Gas class?

Hi Shane,
You can still bring sealed fuel/gas and have the gas guy put it in your tank to be sealed for a gas class.  Same as always, bike's tank must be drained before he puts in the gas.

Last year and this year they have brought several octane choices of Rocket Race Gas.

As to blends,,

I believe they always bring 3 blends, Rocket 100 (unleaded)   111 and 118

(not sure about the 112 (E85) or the 114)

How completely does a car's tank have to be drained? I just need to know how much of a PITA I am looking at.

You can work that out with the fuel guys.  Explain your situation and they'll work with you.  If you can jumper your fuel pump (that's an electric pump isn't it?) you can catch your fuel and put it back in after the meet.  Be prepared to pay a LOT of money for fuel - it sort of takes my breath away!  Seems like 5 gallons is like $50, but that's running on last year's memory.

Nope, good old fashioned mechanical pump driven off the cam. I can pull the filler neck and run a siphon hose, and I may be able to dig up a pump of some kind.

I am not sure you can or must fully drain your tank,,, An honest attempt to have as near an empty tank as possible should be OK,,,  Yes  5 gallons of race gas will cost between $45 a $60 depending on the blend you select.

ECTA is all about  INTEGRITY... we hope if you can't fully empty your tank you will be close to empty and buy the track gas from our vendor.. they also assume what gas you drove in on is "pump gas" and not "dosed". once again personal accountability and integrity ...

See you Saturday.

I had a gallon of rockett 112 in it about a thousand miles ago (ran out of gas at the strip). Before that and since then it has been 87 octane.

Unless you are confident you have a challenger for a record in the gas class, I would go ahead and run 87 in a fuel class and save the money.  Only took me about 5 events to figure that out!

My home built back yard stuff will not run on 87 octane... I normally buy 5 to 8 gallons from the vendor. I buy it at the track to support the vendor even if I run fuel class... I still buy my gas at the track.

Charles, you is a good guy! :-D

We DO try to support our vendors.  Speaking of which, I hope Bill (our food vendor) is feeling better.  I wonder if he'll be there this meet?

Jerry's Catering / BBQ truck is already set up here at the track.  No Bill, Yes Jerry.  I guess that's the story for now.

It's also hot and humid here, in case syou thought maybe otherwise.  88F and about 65%.
