Title: Impound Question
Post by: Chaulkdust on June 04, 2010, 06:03:03 PM
Should I be so lucky as to get to impound, can I swap a battery while the bike is in impound or prior to the next run? The rules say only plugs, wheels, tires and fluids and gas. the reason for the question is that I have a small bike that uses an oil pump and fuel pump for the turbo that drain the battery rapidly. Might be able to make 2 runs, but would rather not take the chance. Don't know how strict BUB is about this. Perhaps I can throw a charger on the battery while it's in impound??

I know you can charge it however FIM is weird..

If running AMA you are able to replace tires and rims should you need to.

In FIM record attempts the rules I believe state that if you change the rim/rire it must be the same manufacurer and model of the one you are replacing.

With that said you can see why I say "F" fim...

Best part of going to impound is to meet drew and his guys..

Good luck and get to meet Drew

Dear Mr. Noonan,
The AMA and F.I.M. rules are alike regarding wheels and tires replacement.

AMA -  1.H.  page 13-14
F.I.M. - 018.26  page 16

I will have an answer for the battery charging question within the next day or two.

Lastly, please keep in mind...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJcXeUxsN7E

Received a message from Drew about the battery. He said for both FIM & AMA you may recharge the battery in impound but may not replace it.
