As many of you know, I'm no stranger to rinding motorcycles on their sides. Having broken the ball off the end of the Triumph's clutch lever, I'm having trouble finding an OEM replacement (backordered). The levers I have found are rounded on the end but aren't truley a ball. Pretty sure taping the ball on the lever I'm using now wouldn't slip by my dog---Would there be a way to make these other type levers acceptible?

Try heliarcing it...it's alumunium isn't it???

I use an aftermarket lever on my bike, it doesnt have a true ball on it but I had no trouble in tech at Bonneville. Jon/SSS can probably give you a good answer for ECTA policy.

I once raced a BSA that had to be original. I adapted an old jap lever filing down the working end of the lever until it fit the BSA bar clamp. I just happen to have one of those levers on my work bench. I have no idea what it was originally on, but it has a true ball end, is made out of aluminum, and I would imagine that with some dremel and file work, you could make it fit the Triumph bar clamp.
If you haven't solved your problem by Sunday night, drop me an email with your address and I'll send the lever to you. When you get it, you can stick a $5 dollar bill in an envelope and send it to me.

Make a ball on the end from JB weld or epoxy. Grind round, paint to match...
or Tig a ball on the end.
They just don't want a sharp ended lever sticking out of your side after a spill.

Stainless got it right. Although it could be argued that a ball ended lever sticking into you after a crash would be pretty uncomfortable -- the idea of the rule is to make it less likely that you'll snag yourself on the sharp end. Might happen that your glove/hand "blows" off the bar during a run, and when you try to put it back on the grip it's difficult because the end isn't smooth and round.
You've got an offer of a usable one for $5 -- give that a thought if you don't want to try fixing your own one.

I could weld a ball from another handle on your handle...it's aluminum??? Bring it to Maxton and I'll take it home with me, weld it and ship it back to you.

i epoxied a tire valve stem cap to a Gilera lever before..... weld the bugger....

I believe the ball end rule was initiated by the death of a friend of mine, Carl Kiesow, who "fell off" at the Anza, Riverside fair grounds TT course and the lever pierced his brain between his eyes just under his helmet. This was sometime between 1952 and 1958. Let me know if I am wrong.

The stuffed envelope is not what I meant, I was hoping you found the part useful, and the solution to your problem.

Yeah, the note goes into a little more detail but it will definetly find a good use.
