My kid put a bunch of shots of the meet on Facebook including a dozen or more of the Harley 200 club induction ceremony. It was short but sweet cause he had to leave to get to a wedding! hahaha
I can't post a direct link at the moment but I will tonight. She was supposed to have made the album public so you should be able to search for it on facebook. She's Amanda Katherine Heneman. Maybe one of my facebook friends can post a direct link.

Two more photos.  First -- Mike, Paula, and Ed (Ed's the spy from the west coast, you know).  And then -- an example of the ECTA coffee mugs that are now available at the sales/registration trailer during ECTA events.  Nancy and I made these in our shop -- and Tonya reported they sold pretty well so we're going to make another batch in time for the May event.  Buy them and think of the ECTA each time you sip your morning wake-up fluid.

Well, not really a good likeness of me, but thanks for noticing.  Better than me -- you can see our front screen door, an a little bit of the house.  And the mug is resting on the top of one of the uprights of the railing around the front deck.  and -- well, yes, so the mug reflects lots of stuff.  Better than if it were all dirty and finger-printed, hey?

Yup, they're the square-on-the-outside but round inside mugs.  We'll be taking a few dozen more to the May event.

Isn't that an inneficient usage of the availible storage capacity of the  mug?

Yes.  But your point, while valid in some ways, denies the artistic effort used to create the design.

These guys that go to engineering schools -- no sense for artsy-fartsy stuff.

The square design does allow for more packing efficiency, but crippling the design with a round interior simply makes it an exhorbitiant waste of space and material. Not to mention making it heavier than it needs to be. But then, it is possible that because of the square shape, it needs the extra material afforded by the round hole to be durable enough for regular usage. Of course, I could be overthinking this.

Yes, I think so.  While you offer valid points -- I go back to the idea that this is a coffee mug.  In many cases a mug is favored by a user because it fits well in a hand, it offers a solid feel, and it holds the heated liquid at a higher temp/doesn't allow the liquid to cool as quickly -- because of the large thermal mass of the cup/mug.

Thin coffee cups work well, too -- but since this is being sold as a fund-raising item for the ECTA -- let's stick with the art and functionality and hope that folks buy lots and lots of them.

It's shiny and green! Awesome!

I will take a pair...

Jon's research is spot on as it pertains to the square shape retaining the heat longer,,, assuming the extra mass does not first work as a heat sink,,, so in theory the first cup of morning coffee will lose some initial heat, so therefore you must drink your first cup quicker, now when you refill the already warmed mug shall in fact maintain the temp of the coffee for a longer duration.

If this sounds like BS,,, then you too are correct,,,,

Just having fun Jon,,,

I want two of them   ECTA Squgs  (square mugs)  to assist with the fund raiser.

I will be there in June  (out to sea in May)

Tonya asked us to make the mugs -- for the ECTA to sell at the registration trailer.  We're happy to supply them -- and will let her know that you'll be wanting some at the June event.

Thanks, folks.

Have to add my 2 cents here....I own some "squgs" and have discovered that, besides the unique outside, they are easier to balance on a precarious surface without spilling; keep my coffee hot longer (you know how important coffee is to me!), and make for interesting topics of discussion!!

If you bring some to Speed Week, Jon, I will gladly buy at least 2, more likely 4!!  Especially if they hold a "full" cup of coffee, not just a sip or two like some mugs!!

Gee-zul-man, Lynda -- now it's you, too.  I gotta do some scientifical research to determine the operating capacity of the mug.  I'll take one to the house and measure.

Hey, you've given me an idea.  Maybe I'll make up a batch for Salt Talks '10 and sell 'em there.  Perhaps in lieu of t-shirts, maybe as well as t-shirts.  Nah, t-shirts sell pretty well -- and give certain racers their chance at permanent glory by being displayed on the shirt.  As for the mugs -- I'd use a generic mountain outline (a la the one I'll be using on the Salt Talks name tags) with something like "Salt Talks '10" engraved on the side, too.  I wonder how many mugs I'd be able to sell at Bville -- if they're all engraved with the ECTA logo.  Some, for sure -- but I think the Bonneville motif would sell even better.

:-oDoes this mean my circle K mug is out of style?  In that case bring alot of them to Salt Talks and I will help you sell them!  Could use two (2) myself.  Nice work Jon.      Crow.

Tonya has requested that we have another two dozen with us when we arrive at the race track in a few weeks.  If you folks will be buying more than the 30 or so they'll have then (some still in stock from the April event) -- place your orders with Tonya (maybe when you preregister for the May racing) and pay her with your registration -- and with that guarantee she can feel confident of sales and ask us to have more.  I don't want ECTA or us to have a bunch left over because someone said he wanted one -- then didn't show up to buy and pay.  Thanks again for your interest.

As for your Circle K mug - or any other branded coffee holders you might have - I've enlisted the aid of a young vandal to sneak around the track and visit unoccupied pits.  He'll be equipped with a small drill and will put holes near the bottom of all the non-ECTA mugs he finds, rendering them useless.  I expect this'll help sell more mugs for the Association.

The mug adds to the nutritional value.  Morning coffee is a square meal.

We bought 4 squgs at the meet, had to get one of each color dontcha know. I'm sitting here sipping out of my red one. They're stout but lighter then you would expect. Being square they balance nicely on the couch! I'd say it holds about 8ozs so average size. I have a few mugs at home that hold a little more & a few that hold a little less. Warmth retention is average as well but the looks/style are definetly top notch! When everyone first was them we all thought the same thing, pencil holder! lol

Here's Bradley our new Harley 200 club member!
