Title: NC Weather (big improvement last 8 weeks)
Post by: Cajun Kid on April 01, 2010, 10:16:16 PM
Here is a pic from 8 weeks ago
19 degrees and  9 to 12 inches of snow that weekend, another big snow in late Feb (can't find that pic but was more snow than in this pic)

Here is a pic from today  85 degrees (green grass too)

Let's all think about next weeks event having such good weather like today.

See you all next Friday

It's 72F here on the south shore of Lake Superior.  Can you match that?

Charles, if that's your house -- I offer my condolences.  What a lot of yard work to keep it in nice condition.  I can see hours of riding the lawnmower and pruning the shrubs.

Other than that -- nice house and yard!

SSS,  yes that's the house,, the fun stuff is in the shops behind and beside it.

I can not believe the grass is so thick and green this soon... It has been mowed twice already in last 2 weeks.

Wife is getting ready to put out pine needles and do some shrub and flower touch ups.

Her Rose Bushes are in the back...

I don't have much land.... just a fraction under 2 acres... (81,000 sq. ft.)

Hmm let's see how much grass..

Concrete Drives and Parking..  12,000 sq ft
Foot print of house                 3,000 sq ft
Shop 1 foot print                    1,200 sq ft
Shop 2 foot print                    2,000 sq ft
Wifes Storage Buiding                300 sq ft
Wooded and Flower areas        4,000 sq ft
Total                                  22,500  sq ft

81,000 - 22,500 = 58,500 Sq ft of grass to mow and trim around.

So approx 1.4 acres of grass..

Dang,,, I hate I figured all that...Hmm I need more shop space and parking so there is less grass to take care of.

Fred,

She says that sometimes too,,..  she has two storage / craft rooms in the house a 4 x 16 and a 12 x 18, plus finished attic storage area of 24x24... plus above my #1 shop we have 2nd floor walk in storage room 12x40

I think that is plenty....??

Cajun, if you can order the area that precisely, she doesn't have enough.

If it's too much to calculate, she's only slightly short on her area.

She's not interested in any driveway property either.

It all has to be undercover, heated, AC and no stairs to climb.

Your new shop seems to match all of those conditions. What'doya think?

You need a 'busa-powered riding lawnmower: get it done in 15 minutes or less.

Freud,

I am sure she has  "eyed" my new shop with other visions of grandeur// she questioned the reasons for heat and then central air !!!

But that shop is off limits for any use other than HotRod and Race Car use  LOL
(ok, ok, ok,,, yes Bikes can be worked on in there too !!!....don't want to alienate my bike friends)

That's my story and I am sticking to it...

That's right Charles. Didn't think the winter was ever going to end around here. Along with all this great weather our dreaded yellow dust season has arrived. Hosed the truck off this morning and just a few hours later it was back twofold. A duster may be a good addition to your support equipment this meet. Maybe a dust mask as well.

Yes the pollen count was HIGH today...

Eric's new yellow paint job may be the hot ticket this coming week.

We need some r*** down here (thursday). The pollen has all the cars and trucks the same color as the school bus.

Has any testing been done as to the adhesion characteristics of pollen on a race  car at speed?

How fast must you go to blow all the pollen off ?

bbarn,

That theoretical reseach report confirms to me that the unknown is just not known at this time, and fromt time to time the unknown can become know by a select few who just knew they would some day know the unknown and then become the writers of such know reports.

Brother-in-law Ed here from CA. (his fault I have this affliction), still have to put the seat back in the truck, get the chairs & stuff out of the attic, load the trailer (greased the bearings yesterday), and the catering staff (Paula) is still putting together the lunch menu's and travel snacks... but we'll be there.

We're southbound on I-77 in northern WV right now.  It's cloudy and 70F - and the forecast says this is the nicest weather we'll have until Saturday morning.  At least the forecast for the weekend is nice.  We left the boots at home -- but maybe should have 'em for wet grass at the track.  No need for them even when we get back to the U P -- only a few inches of snow - darned near open-toe sandals will be good enough in that.

Somewhat, I keep looking at that 6 mph crosswind/headwind that is forecast.

The temps look great,,, If there has to be a wind/breeze,,, I am all for a tail or head wind ... I just don't like them cross winds,,, or better yet,,,, the ole brick I drive does not like cross winds.

See you all tomorrow
