I  have been looking at the  AMA /Bub rule book which says
Motorcycle classes are listed as follows:
1.) Displacement Class
2.) Frame Class
3.) Engine Class
For example – a production motorcycle with a production
supercharged engine of 1350cc would be listed as: 1350-P-PB

My question is does any combination of those three (displacement,frame and engine) make an allowable class
ie. 50- A- VBG ... or are there combinations which are not allowed.
Tried a search but couldn't find my answer.

After my first visit to Bub and running RWB I wanted to explore the possible AMA classes I could run in a future visit.  I was thinking about perhaps 125-M-PV.


I was hoping that someone could direct me to to a link that would say in black and white what the allowable classes were, or are any combination of displacement , frame and engine allowed?

Hope this makes more sense.

Andy your class should read 125 M VG or 125 M VF, there are no pushrod vintage classes most bikes that are old enough to fit in the vintage category are pushrod or flathead anyway.  If you could find a DOHC Velocette I guess you would have an avantage that is within the rules.

I thought PV was for production vintage :?

Andy your right PV is production vintage, but in order to compete in any motor production class your bike must also comply with the rules of production frame class appropriate to your bike.  You would have to be in 125-P-PV or 125-M-VG, 125-M-PV is not a recognised class.

Which brings me back to my original question, is there somewhere I can find a list of the recognised classes for AMA/Bub:?
