Title: 2010 Camaro Speeds?
Post by: JimCompCNC on August 16, 2009, 08:54:58 AM
Does anyone know what the car number on the camaro was?

I'm wondering what it ran?

I think it was only tech'd to 135 if I recall corectly.  I was wondering if the corvette built for 200 met its goal with both drivers.  Last I saw it ran 179 on its 175 passes.

Yellow '69 Camaro ???  Car #9601 ... ran 136 on a 135 limit ... all day long ... owner Chris Berardi ... had more in it but they kept it to the tech limit speed ... car had a couple of driver changes ... I think everyone from Massachusetts drove it at least once ... Joe

they were more then friendly ... they worked long shut down and timing slips both days ... plus took turns driving the yellow camaro ... They stepped to any contingency ... plus their enthusiasm inspired others to volunteer ... really good people ... Joe

I looked through all my Saturday pictures and did not have either of his runs.  I  talked to him in the line both before and after his first run.  The car was stock but has the full power package (big V8 etc).  As I recall, he thought it was capable of 110 mph in the 1/4.  He seemed mildly frustrated after his first run.  He got to 135 in a hurry and then cruised the rest of the course.  We talked about the possibility of putting in a cage but, not surprisingly, he was not eager to do that with a brand new street car.

I will admit I'd feel safer in a 2010 Camaro with no rollbar than a 1932 Ford with a rollbar at 175mph, but I'm biased.
Yes, they do trap in the 110mph range in the quarter right off the showroom on pump gas.

That's pretty common with new release performance cars.  It's not just GM specific.  Actually GM dealers aren't as bad as most.  CobraR's were marked up 50%.

I finally joined the forum after 2 months of viewing.  My car number was 9338.  I made 3 passes through the weekend.  129,135,160.  I got carried away on my last pass and Mr. Wanner chewed my ass and told me to park it.  It was a much deserved ass chewin.  I broke the rules and jeopardized my life going that fast without proper safety equipment.  My apologies.  But I will be legal next time.  Maybe not with the camaro.
