This is a rough job on photoshop but this is the basic idea
Any thoughts?
-
you must really like green ... Joe
-
Flames are supposed to go front to rear. Are you switching to front wheel drive??

Good idea there
I seen my family member award winning custom painter Art Himsel do a few nice flame jobs. I think if you do the nose in a cherry flame color and come off the front fender wells back with true flame paint work it would look real mean. Art did our Pro Stock 427 SOHC Maverick and air brushed my glass bumpers on my 57tbird they can be viewd here http://fordflashback.com/jd_fords.asp . I think your idea of flames is a good idea
On another note how fast have you gone in that car? what size engine?
-
But the flames are going the wrong direction unless he is driving it backwards.
Hey HAPPY NEW YEAR JH
-
JH,
Your just spoofing us aren't you???
Harv
-
PUT som yellow on that car's blue and let it turn to GReen---set off the flames!!!!!!!!
-
Yes JH tell us how fast you have gone and your current goals for the new year..
-
I don't see any flames. It looks like the car hit a can of green paint and it all splashed back on the blue body.

Nah, let the flames stay going the way they are -- I noticed the "backwards" right away and thought it was a good idea, a kind of play on the usual theme.
Of course I hope it's not a harbinger of spins to come. Happy New Year, everyone.

My pop couldn’t get the gist of it when I was trying to explain the idea of the backwards flames so I did this to show him and thought I would get everyones opinion on the concept and colors. SSS is dead on that its to be different from the huge numbers of “proper orientation” flames and not take ourselves too seriously.
Some have mentioned adding more colors to set off the flames. I am a little apprehensive due to the fact that it may become a problem to touch up if I get a ding or need to replace some sheet and one more color will really make the labor add up…..this may change after it gets painted.
Thanks for the comments

Noonan.....you got mail.

This is what the good ol' trusty color wheel suggests; but then again maybe the green is for the greener, (read faster speed) pasture of 2009.

Nothing more personal than paint color and flames. Don't ask if you really know what you want in the first place and please yourself first......but now that you asked I don't like the flames backwards  ,

Chris, Nancy suggests that you do the car in chartreuse and magenta with a background of cocoa.
Yes, she's had a glass of wine...maybe two.
Now she's telling me that the colors are like the Coneheads on the Old Saturday Night Live shows. Ah, what a memory she's got. I spelled that correctly -- Memory.
And after I posted this in the first iteration -- she tells me that no, she didn't mean the Coneheads. Let's just drop it for now, okay?
-
I think the flames are going the right direction - I mean, that's the end that the flames usually come out of an X1/9, right? :-D
-
Front fenderwells?

Looks weird. A drag racer friend of mine, Eddie Potter, said that the way to get famous in racing was to win all the time, which is difficult, or look or do something so different that everyone remembers you. You may have found it.
-
Blue and Green are too close together to look "right".
Green and Red, or Blue and Orange, would be better.
Flames also need to be outlined in a contrasting color.
-
I would say flip the numbers around too if you are going to go with bassakwards flames. Then glue a matching Afro wig to your helmet.
Otherwise, I would spare my car and myself the anguish and go with a solid green and maybe some off-green flames (Pointing the right direction, of course). Silver flames would be cool too. The colors you have clash a bit. This link may help you with finding the root cause of the issue:

Haha, you asked! Bitchen' car otherwise. If you lived near me, I would airbrush you something cool.

BB, I'll ask the question for Chris (JH): Where in Oregoon are you? He's in that state, too, you know.
And speaking of Oregon -- are you planning on attending Freud's Bonneville Reunion in Portland on the 21st of February? Do consider it -- it's a fine way to meet new folks and re-furbish old acquaintances.

Awesome! I'm there!
I'm southwest of Portland about 45 min.

Here is a small but necessary update to the paint idea

That black patch was a hole! (the car in the "flame" pic is on the hook and we have the cover off to charge the batts between runs)
(the hole missing is not exactly what I was talkin' about) :-D

You've got a new pet monkey?? :-D
