SuperStreetBike Mag - Cover Story - 200MPH or Bust
In short, the Mag guys take an 08 Busa and see if they can use every day bolt on parts to get it to 200mph. Full exhaust, PowerCommander, Quickshifter, K&N Filter, GaleSpeed Aluminum wheels, Beringer brake kit, TRE............................But just in case they could not make it with the average bolt on mods, a little puff of N2O was added.
N/A: 186HP
N2O: 211HP
Rider: 240lbs (Just Your Average Meat Eating Beer Swilling American)
Test Site: Southern California Honda Test Facility SEVEN mile oval and TWO mile straight!!!!
First N/A Run: 185.8 MPH
Several N/A Runs later the best mustered: 187.8MPH
First Run on Spray: 191.3MPH
Second Run on N2O: 193.4MPH
Best Run on N2O: 194.2MPH
Final conclusion: Dang, It's Not As Easy As People Say!!!!!!
Special Guest cameos in-article: Scott Guthrie and Lee Shierts

Pretty sad they could not break 187 all motor and 194 on the juice, I am sure it was not Scott or Lee riding as they would have gone faster I am sure.
Pretty sad for the riders and team involved...even a stock 01 busa has gone 187 in the dirt with elevation of 2,500' and no juice...are the 08's that slow or just the people involved..240 pounds..? Who in the heck was pilot..?
I don't think it needed better brakes it needed a better rider..

You posted a 211mph and a best of 194? Me no understand. :|

I think it was 211hp. Sound liKe they need a smaller rider, not only is the 240lbs a handicap but its probably not too aerodynamic. :-D
-
just a thought. what about a sprocket change to the final drive ratio? not a busa guy.

Man you fellas are rough, I'm a svelte 255lbs. lol
Yep, they did change gearing.
It takes a lot to get a fat guy moving!!! LMAO

But everybody knows Busa's go 200 stock...something must have been wrong ;)
They shoulda put Scott G. on that 08'

What wrong with 240 lbs?? I think of my love handles as aerodynamic side humps.

My wife still laughs about the "Krystal, do these leathers make me look fat?" episode :)

It was "Krystal, do these leathers make my butt look big?" :-D The expression on her face was pretty funny as well.

I still think of that moment :-D It is probably the funniest thing I have ever heard a guy say .... hahahahaha
Our stock 08' Busa went 206.64mph at Bonneville on the short course.... without NOS :)

"Aerodynamic side humps" ????

Scott G said it best." Everyone who rides a Hayabusa secretly believes they can go 200 mph. Then they find out how hard it is." Amen! We all know every local bike night is full of Busa, GSXR and even Harley riders who have been over 200mph on the highway. Never been to a speed trial or race track and don't have a time slip but their GPS, speedo, seat of the pants or alcohol induced memory doesn't lie. Just ask, they'll tell you all about it. Good article SSB Mag. Merry Christmas!

Years back when someone would remark that their car ran 12's I would ask, " What track did you turn that time at?" .... Invariably, they were never at a track it was always an "Estimated Elapsed Time" ... It was based on things like, I beat this guy that SAID he ran 13's so I must run 12's ... I guess that there is estimated land speed as well ... Joe

When we were running " Bonnyvill Elemetrary Skol" we just could hardly belive:
1. The Speedo error
2. The Tach error
3. The rev limiter LIE
4. The unbeliveable difference between a stock engine that was originally shipped to NY---(it had CA emmisions) and the one we used
the second year from CO.
