Title: Wheel spacers??
Post by: bigtim44 on March 31, 2004, 12:57:00 AM
I was scanning through the 2003 rule book to see if wheel spacers are allowed and couldn't find any reference to them .....does that mean it's OK to use them?

Wheel spacers and wheel adapters are allowed. However one should always error to the caution side on demensions and strengths.  There a are some "cheap" units available which should be avoided(this is more for adapters). A spacer is best attatched to the wheel or hub to maintain balance. Good Luck  J.D.

Thats good because the problem I've run into is on my rear wheels and tires....because the body is channeled down so far the swage line on the inner wheel arch is against the side wall of the tire (28x4.5 good year frontrunner).so I'm looking at spacers that don't change the bolt pattern just the offset,I've heard that there are some nice billet ones out there....just have to find them.

I've had good luck using individual 2" dia discs on each stud as wheel spacers - Simple to make and it's easy to have an on size hole so the studs see no bending force .
