Title: Valve stem question for BUB / AMA

My rims have angled metal valve stems that are welded in place. With this in mind how would the following rule apply?

"Angled valve stems must be safety wired to resist centrifugal force deflection."

Experience has shown that the centrifugal force at high speed is going to break that off. You will have to tie it back to the nearest spoke. Yeah, ugly, but necessary.

I spoke with Drew and he was extremely helpful in clarifying a few questions. As to the angled valve stem he indicates that I will be ok since it is one peice coming through the rim and is welded. The rule being originally designed for spoked rims and rims with a rubber seal and nut holding the valve in place. I am looking into cutting them off and replacing with straight stems though for my own peace of mind.
