Title: Maxton June Meet - (Friday the 27th ???)
Post by: Cajun Kid on May 31, 2008, 02:18:04 PM
It appears that the June meet will be my first time at Maxton to run the car.  Is there a schedule of any events on Friday (I have only been a spectator on Sat and Sun the last 2 years)

On Friday any tech inspection since this is a new car? Any Rookie Orientation or even un timed drives down the track etc...??

Any help from the event staff on this question would be nice (Kieth, Joe etc..) If I can get some stuff done and out of the way, I would be more than gald to get there  Friday

Here's a link to the daily schedule:
http://www.ecta-lsr.com/?page_id=69

And here's what it says:
Quote
Daily Event Schedule

Friday:
8:00 AM until 5:00 PM – Track setup (welcome any who want to volunteer)
10:00 AM until 4:00 PM - Registration
Noon until 4:00 PM - Vehicle inspections (on a limited basis as inspectors are available)
5:00 PM - Rookie Orientation *

Saturday:
8:00 AM - Registration 8:00 AM - Vehicle inspections
8:30 AM – Drivers’ Meeting
9:00 AM - First vehicle on course
11:30 AM - Lunch Break
11:30 AM - Rookie Orientation *
12:00 PM - Resume Racing
6:00 PM - End Saturday Racing

Sunday:
8:00 AM until 2:00 PM - Racing

I highly recommend getting there Friday and getting your car straight into the tech line early. Teching starts when techs are available which is sometimes before noon but not guaranteed to start before noon! ;) Bring your patients as Friday is a busy day with a lot going on but if you are patient there's a 99% chance you'll get done. Also the Rookie Orientation Friday night ensures you can run first thing on Saturday. The Rookie Orientation involves a low speed caravan down the track with explanations on how things are run, what to do when & where. It is required before you can run and it's the best place to address any first timer questions you may have.

Looking forward to seeing you again and can't wait to see your car!

The June meet will be the first one my Son and Myself will be driving in. We have both been there once before in 2006 as spectators. We wont be out there to set any records, just trying to to give my Son a chance to compete in an event and maybe go 100 - 110 MPH legally .... The car is a bone stock never been touched 1986 Monte Carlo SS so we arent expecting anything special by LSR standards .... just trying to have fun and maybe ... just maybe set the hook in him and then take it from there.

We're both looking forward to the event and meeting everyone we can.

That's great! I was thinking young but wasn't sure! We always try to encourage the young kids around here to take it to the track and keep it off the street but very few do! Looking forward to meeting y'all!

Hey Deb,  thanks for the info. I will do my very best to be there on Friday (if the car is ready). It makes sense to do so with a new car and to get rookie stuff out of the way.

I hope to see you rocket down the track again,, what an AWESOME  Meet you had last month !!!
