Title: Motorcycle armor (and riding apparel/ leathers) requirements

Due to a heavy amount of questions we've recieved regarding acceptable
armor protection at Maxton, Deb has put together a "Riding Apparel" page
referencing the relative ECTA rules.

It will be a "work in progress" (as most things are with us - lol), so
check back on occassion for updates relating to helmets, suits, boots
and gloves as well.

Thanks Glen.
I do plan to expand that page & possibly add some others.
I'd like to add some more examples of what's ok & not ok.
Maybe even snag some photo examples at the next meet!  :-) (riders beware!  :-o )

Quick comment regarding the SixSixOne hip protection you show.  They make two different versions, the "soft" one you show, and a hard version.  The fit of the two seems really different especially where the hip pad sits, so worth trying them on before you buy.  Too many buying sight unseen online these days.

I own both for off road use, and so far despite wearing them a lot, have not "tried them out" yet.   :-D

Good info, thanks SJ! I would imagine the soft would fit better under leather, do you find that to be the case?

  One thing I may add.. While testing my armor I landed on my elbow pad. It was a hard pad. the pad broke four of my ribs when I landed on my side. I have noticed that all the new armor I have looked at has soft elbows. I don't know is it is just an old armor or the make and style. But I would prefer soft elbow pads. Just my two cents.

closed cell high density foam works like a champ, and you can trim it for your application...with straight leather being put to the test at 240 and surviving...the armor is a bonus, i think...

bohn armor makes a good back protector for a decent price.
