Post by: krugger on July 14, 2007, 03:54:05 PM
Hello everybody,

i'm from Belgium,i'm a bike builder and will realise my dream soon!

I will compete on the Bub event 2-7 september. That will be the first time.

I can't wait to be on the salt flat,i must meet my friend  Roger Goldammer and Brian Klock, and probably more!

Everything will be new to me,impossible to find that kind of race in Europe.

My only experience is the movie with Burt Munrow....:-)

So see you in September

Very nice bike Krugger.  I look forward to seeing it in person on the salt.  I have a very good friend that lives in Belgium, he owns Tecno-Bike.  I will look for you on the salt and maybe also see you in Germany at Fighterama.

Krugger,

Curious how wide is the tank and tail section around the tire... Looks real skinny... Got to love V-Twins.

Hello Jon,

i have receive your web adress by Gabriel Uttley(who is a nice guy and have give me some good information about Speed race) during the Goodwood Festival of Speed(UK).
Nice to hear you!

The tank is cut in half, left and right, wheel in the middle! Of course...:-)
Each side have 4.5 liter of gasoline(a little bit more than one gallon)

rear tyre is 180 mm wide ,so total wider is +-  340 mm

The engine is a stock XB 9 except the carb Mikuni BN(from Jet ski)and ignition,i need more power...but for the first time on the salt flat that will be enought...:-)

Freddy,

I will be great to meet you this year, I gave Philippe D (Frog's) all of the information that you will need to make the bike legal for running this year at the Bub's event.  You have a great mind when it comes to design.
 :-o
J

PS.

Fix the chain guard, sprocket cover, kill switch etc and you will be fine.

What leathers and helmet are you planning on running?

Prohibited on the Speedweek but agree on Bub,if i have well understood...

What do you think?

According to AMA Regulations as per the 2007 rules.

Rule 2.S Wheels.
...Front Wheel must have cross ventilation at a minimum of 25% of total wheel surface, except for streamliners..."

There is a possibility it could be legal IF you are running for FIM record. There is no mention that I could find in the FIM rules on cross ventilation on front rim. I searched thru the FIM book and found wheels under rule 2.3.16.2 and there is no mention of cross ventilation... That would be IF you are running for FIM record.

Sounds good about the wheels!

What is the FIM record?  Is it only One mile or one kilometer top speed? That's on the short track?

Can i compete in AMA if i change my front wheels?

AMA is top speed after 5 or 8 miles?

My english is so bad  ...

But my priority is ride on the salt ,know new krazy friend ,take experience(for the next year...:-) ) and have a lot of fun

Krugger,

Both AMA and FIM you get 5 mile run up and one mile timed segment. Try this link for a picture, this is from a past event.

I would contact Delvene Manning from BUB on the wheel and get an official answer

Krugger I saw your bike at the custom chrome show last year in Germany (I was a judge and voted for it!) I always enjoy your bikes, they are always unique and very nicely built . I look forward to seeing you on the salt.

I met Fred at Goodwood Festival of Speed, and his bike is very SPECIAL. The build quality is painstakingly superb, with every detail taken into account during the build. The video shows that it goes as well as it looks. I think Fred has made a fantastic machine, and wish him all the best at Bonneville. My brother and I will pop over to see him in Belgium as soon as we can. Regards, Gabriel.

Great video, looks good, but Kent has issued a good warning, you will probably want to take it apart and clean it BEFORE you ship it back unless you want that patina the salt gives everything.
Looks like you need a straighter, longer road, Bonneville is definitely that.  See you on the salt  8-)

When i will be on the salt flat ,that will be great to give me a smal hello!!!

a couple hundred bucks will be great for the Klock's wedding....

No stress with the rust!  I build ONLY oldschool bike ....

I continue my test with the bike ,i try some ugly ,stupid, amazing, bad ,....new idea :-D

Do you think that i will aspired a lot of salt on the engine?  Need to put a front fender?

Every advice is welcome, but try to explain simply... :-o  my english is

"Do you think that I will aspired a lot of salt on the engine?  Need to put a front fender?"

The chances are very good that some salt will be thrown forward off the front tire, and some of that salt will undoubtedly end up in the air and on the front of the bike.  Since your air intake horn is up front -- yes, you will have salt getting into the air intake.

I don't know if a "stock" front fender will solve the problem, since coverage is commonly not all the way down the front of the tire.  The rules allow the fender to extend as far down as the centerline of the front axle -- so such a fender should reduce, if not eliminate the problem.  Several race bikes have fenders that cover all the (legal) way down  -- for instance:  This might need a bit of cutting on the front/bottom, but you get the idea. . .

Good luck.

I has come at Alstar (world champion of Superbike, with  Biagi, Kagayama, Simeon,...) ,this racing team is close to my home(20 minutes) and have a lot of good tools,so....i have try my bike on this!!!! :-o

The result is not really good ,i have a problem with the rear cylinder, probably the valve,it lose compression....

The speed is 190 km/h  +- 5500 rpm  but the engine run normaly at 8500 rpm

So i will open the engine the next week and will try again...

Some news the next week

thanks for your answer!!!

So one more question, because i have not a lot of room in my bag....(helmet,racesuit,boots,...)

I would know if it's cold during the night? And hot during the day(i think, yes)
Is it  necessary to take a big pull over....or only a smal pants  :-)

That will be my last question before to take on and see you inj reality on the salt flat!!!!!

High temp is predicted to be up to 35 C and the low to be 18 C.  The casinos are all air conditioned so you may feel cold there (unless you get really "hot" at the tables).

Here is a good weather site for Bonneville:

http://www.wunderground.com/US/UT/Wendover.html

Hope to see you there.  We're leaving in a few minutes.

Hello everybody,

i'm well comeback at home!

The Bonneville trip has been really nice. That will stay one of my best souvenir in my live.

I has been really impressed by the salt, very slippy, very strange...

Thanks to everybody that help me on the salt falt!!

Thanks to Brian Klocks (who take care of my bike like Las Vegas Artistry in Iron show, and congratulation again for the wedding!!),to my friend Goldammer to share his stand and his knowledge,to Brenda(for the smile and the cleaning of the trailer...:-) ), to Larry Coleman and his old friend with the"Museum" trailer(some brassing and help),the guys of J&P cycles streamliner to lend me some tools .Again ,thanks to everybody!!!!

My speed is  134.9 miles with stock XB9 engine(80 HP on the wheel),i have take a lot of experience and have a lot of fun.I choose to run on the Run Watcha Brung track (or something like that...:-))  thursday morning(the big track was too busy...:-(  ) ONLY one run by day,one run monday, one run tuesday, one run wednesday, and  that's  all...

However ,too bad ,that my bike has not agree in AMA category(only my front solid wheel...) because the top speed on Bub is 129 miles(APS/PG 1000).

I need some video(easy to realise because I'm not quick...:-)),pictures of my bike,if you know it ,that will be really great to inform me,thanks!!

And ,now,i need to sold my bike and build a new one with a better engine....

Last think, my best wishes to Leslie.
