I first visited the salt back in 2007. Like any red-blooded American gearhead, I've been envious of the guys with those red hats ever since. I had a blast working my way through the USFRA 130 and 150MPH clubs, but the hill got a lot steeper after that. I had to feed my salt addiction by working in various volunteer positions for both SCTA-BNI and USFRA: timing, course marshal, and tech inspector for the last 7 or 8 years.
But when I met Doug and Davidson Adler, everything changed. We made a deal that enabled me to go after that red hat in their car. They bent over backwards to help me, and despite a few minor problems, everything worked out. The car was more than adequate as a platform for me to meet my goal. As one way of thanking them, I deliberately left enough "wiggle room" on the record so that somebody else could jump in the seat and give it a shot.
So, I just want to take this opportunity to thank Doug and Davidson once again for everything. It seems like we've developed a bond which far exceeds our racing-related association. I look forward to seeing them again and again in the future.
