I was just looking at the pre-entry list for Speedweek and I see that there is 10 entries for the C/AIR class, that's great.
-
Not new,we have been running AIR for five years,,,
but now changed up to XO Street Roadster
-
You mean they changed from a C engine to an XO which is an inline engine?
-
Yes. Went from a 350 Chevy to a 302 GMC. Which is proper for the Salt Circus car
-
Rich, is that your GMC 6 in the Salt Circus car or the one that was in it for years ?
-
George bought the first GMC from me. I don't know where it is now. Howard head 12 port when I sold it. Arias repop later. This new GMC is a different engine. Stock head I think.
-
I believe you're right, Rich. XO rather than XXO.

Sorry I miss replying,, it was a bit of work-heat-illness then home that whip my but.
We have the 302 that Larry Landcaster campaigned for many years in different trucks for records
He was 'through' with it, so we stepped up and relieved him of it, and as many know The Salt Circus was built with 302s. First with stock head and tri-power and later with 12 port and injection. When we got the car from Monte Osborn (yes that Monte) he held on to the motor and we stuffed in a 350 we had laying around, like what poor/small time/photographer can afford a race 302 or even a 302 these days?? So for five hears we ran AIR (Compressed Air-Stan Back).
We arrived at the salt without the motor running, always optimistic I am, and thanks to the help of the 302 Gurus we got it running. And after 10 ours in line we prepped Chick into her fire suit, belted her in and the clutch slave when to sh**sky. A push start in gear and she made the first pass, power shift here we come, with the motor - 113 at the 3 mile.
We are planning for more, if it dries out at El Mirage.
Tony and Chick
And we still have a few calendars available

It started with a Howard Head and tripower
