I just got off the phone with Andrew Hecht, a guy that's ("...working with...a financial institution on a branded docu-series..." of his) casting for a "soon-to-be-retiree" that wants to pursue a goal - like building his own car. Who's that among us?
Lots of folks here already actively building, but I betcha there are some - lurkers, maybe even - that fit Andrew's needs. To clarify, he's seeking someone (late 50s-early 60s?) that's planning on what he'll do after retirement in a few years.
I've got a flyer to post but that'll have to wait for me to get to the 'puter at the house. Check back and if you're interested you can PM me.

That's probably about 80% of the members here.
Steve. (Retiring soon to build my own car)?.

I'm building a 4WD AA/BFS, I can't retire because money doesn't grow on trees in the Caribou National Forrest. :-(

Maybe it's time to change location, even go into politics, get a cabinet position ? one opens up about every week (some jail time may be included).

I agree with Stan....After being elected you will be dead broke. After your term is ended or you are voted out of office you be a millionaire many times over and be able to complete your race car on someone else's dollar (maybe even mine).
Just remember the first day you are in office is the begining of your re-election campaign.

Been there done that. Lost job at 57 and started building with a friend.
Only took 17 years to get to run.

My team partner on Team Brine Shrimp was recently ?coerced? into retirement. Part of the reason we aren?t running this year. But we are still updating the shrimp and starting work on a new secret project.

Jon, I retired early so I could spend more time racing and I'm building a Landspeed truck.
See you on the Flats.

In some cases it work the other way. A person retires and has a hard time figuring out how to keep racing.

Problem for me since retirement has been finding time for reviving my own unfinished race projects from way back. Been too busy having fun helping out friends with their programs. :-D
