If we have a small Scooter to run around the pits if needed. Is it a requirement to be registered and have a licensee plate? Dont want to upset the BLM officer.

either plated or an Utah o h v sticker
-
Utah recognizes many other state's OHV tags, info should be available online. Pedal bikes are good everywhere.
Sid.

We put a Utah Off Road sticker on our Golf Cart last year.... just to be safe
-
Thanks for the info. Problem i have is under 50 CC no registration plate is needed in the state Im in. So could i use the off road sticker and if yes where can i get one?
-
I picked one up at the Maverick Station in Green River... Did not see anywhere in Wendover to get one. There is a list on the state website. Most of the places are around Moab... you won't be near there

You can get a permit online here:
https://utahstateparks.reserveamerica.com/showPage.do?name=common&commonPath=/htm/OHVPasses_UT.jsp
That's what we've done every year.

11 No person shall, allow another person to, violate the State of Utah's Off Highway
Vehicle (OHV) statutes, to include, but not limited to:
a.) Operating an OHV without a current UT OHV registration, temporary UT OHV
registration or reciprocal state registration for out of state vehicles.
b.) Operate an OHV without wearing a safety helmet while under the age of 18.
c.) Operate an OHV under the age of 16, or without a valid driver's license from the
state that person currently resides, without direct supervision of an adult (of 18 years
of age or older). Direct supervision includes being within 300 feet of the person
operating the OHV and being able to maintain visual and audio contact with the
operator.

So if you are over 18 and fall off your motorcross bike you are not at risk of brain injury (11.b.)
I presume there are statutes about being wrapped in cotton wool (under the age of 18), only being allowed to have your teeth cleaned by a certified dental hygienist etc etc.
Presumably old age pensioners have to register their zimmer frames too.

Not so much, they listed the non-reciprocal states.
I had to read it more than once to catch it. :|

Pretty much looks like every state is listed! Even those that have no requirements to register the little scooter no matter Utah pretty much requires every state to pay up. More revenue to use for protecting the resources unless its the salt flats go figure. :-o

Welcome to America . . . where we're of two minds about everything.
DON'T TREAD ON MY NANNY STATE!

I called Utah last week about this and was informed that if you have a pit bike that will not go over 35 miles an hour you do not need the green sticker
-
Utah OHV regulations don't appear to layout any exemption based on speed:
https://site.utah.gov/stateparks/wp-content/uploads/sites/13/2018/06/2018-OHV-law-booklet.pdf
The $30 fee (+$5 for online registration) is cheap insurance that you won't get hassled by local enforcement. We've never been asked for proof of registration, but we pay the fee and move along happily knowing that we're not skirting gray areas that may be enforced differently by different officers. I couldn't find anything int he 30 pages of code that listed a threshold speed for registration.
-
What about motorized bicycles?
-
We use a golf cart , a friend looked up Utah code and a golf cart can be considered a Handicap vehicle , not sure where he found this info , but we have never been hassled by the fish cops .
-
In my experience the Rangers are looking to control the wild kids doing dumb things. We have used golf carts, ATV's, motor bikes and electric scooters and have never been bothered by the Rangers. But I have seen them chase kids and then have the vehicles removed from the area, too.
Drive responsibly and there's no problems.

As I recall small mini bikes and go carts are not allowed, Check with the SCTA web site .
-
Race cars have crappy visibility, and when they're being moved around in the pits it's really difficult to see little things like go karts on the ground and little bikes and such. Sounds like a good reason to limit the use of tiny little pit vehicles.
There's one reason they're restricted.
-
So... a dual sport bike like a Utah plated Honda XR650 is ok in the pits? Will there be a pit pass extra charge or does the regular entrance fee get you into the pits? THANK YOU!
