Anyone have a set they'd like to let go of?
I believe the wrecking yards have them.

Last time I asked around at the local yards, they weren't interested in selling a gear set, the whole rear end if I wanted to add the shipping cost from where ever they could find one (they didn't). Seemed a bit much. I do miss the Calif. pickNpull's. The rust keeps them from keeping cars too long.

Armond, you might add your location to your profile... that might help someone nearby suggest a yard for you to check

Done, Thank you

Armond I have one 28 spline

Thank you! See you at the Strokers Reunion.

I have a 9" 2.50 ring and pinion.....612-309-3999........612-309-3999

Thank you all. Met up with Bearingburner at the Strokers Reunion and picked up a nice 2.47 pumpkin from him. It was a great day of Hot Rod/Racing and general comradery. I can't say that I'm fully convinced a Ford 9 is the way to go with a horsepower limited car but at least it's a quick swap looking for the best ratios.

GM 7.5 would be a better choice 2.14 2.28 2.56 2.73 29? 3.08 2 series carrier
-
Yeah, Sparky.
But the 9" offers a so much better variety to let you settle in to which might be the best for you. I don't know (along with a bunch of other things) how much you lose with the Ford set-up, but if you finally find one you can't pull, you can either go down a step, make more horsepower, of change the whole rear end to a different one with the same ratio that doesn't eat the horsepower up as much.

(Five times over the years inching up my own record by changing things other than horsepower – can't see it any more now.)

Hey Sparky, :-D
Isn't there a 2.41:1 gear in the 7.5" series also? 8-)
The 9" stuff is ok for gear selection, but chews up some power consumption because of the pinion way down low.....

There may be I know the 8.5 has a 2.41
-
There's a 8.5 inch 10 bolt with 2.41 gears with posi available here now and if the guy has it in a couple of weeks I'll grab it. My idea was to change gears easily as Loring is only a days drive but requires more of an acceleration type ratio. At least I know it won't go slower changing to a 10 bolt with the same ratio. There's also a company that does REM polishing close by. Doing the R&P along with the bearings should help with all that parasitic drag.

I have a couple of centre sections with 250 gears - open differential and 28 spline ...they are in usable shape ...
Trouble is - I too live in a city named Vernon but I am in British Columbia, Canada ....shipping would probably cost a bunch more than you'd want to pay. I may have just a gear set of 2.47 - 1.... but I'd have to look.
