I'm posting this for Jim Knapp:
For Sale: The Legendary Barnyard Bearcat, a 300mph Ride for <$50k
Yes it’s true, I’m letting go of an old friend. It got me a Red Hat. It got my girlfriend a Red Hat. It got Dan Warner a Red Hat. It can get you a Red Hat, and/or a Blue Hat.
Basically I’ve gotten a new “Girl Friend” who is taking all my time.
The price includes a number of items:
The race ready Bearcat (all it needs is gasoline). It’s powered by three bone stock Suzuki GSX-r 1000 motor cycle motors (run the same oil all season) producing 500+ RWHP. Only mod is three Dobeck AFR gauges running off Wide Band O2 sensors to modify injector pulse width should you desire to do so.
The 36’, air conditioned, insulated, mobile pit trailer (you can work on the car in air conditioned comfort on the salt, in front of the Car Quest, on the side of the road, or in your driveway). It comes complete with a 7kVA genset, twin roof top A/C units, two cranes to lift the Bearcat up for easier maintenance, 35 gallon water tank, shower, sink, micro wave, hydraulic “foot”, “goose neck” hitch, sleeping area, etc.
1999 Dodge Diesel 2500 Ram extended cab tow vehicle with rear view camera, $4000 billet automatic transmission and billet manual torque converter, limited slip differential, etc.
Many spare parts (chutes, fire bottles, etc.) and tires, including a narrowed Chevy differential w/Summers Bros Axles if you want to go back to “in-line” power.
You and the Bearcat can easily compete this coming season for the mere sum of $49,837.28!
The car/truck/trailer are located in San Diego, CA
Let me know if you are interested.

Just reading that ad was pleasant. Good luck with the sale  Dean
-
Minor typo... I think the truck is a 3500 Cummings Diesel Dodge Dually... not a 2500
There's a blue hat waiting for the next owner of that rig
-
Okay, everybody. I didn't include Jim's video clip earlier, so now you get to go back and watch and listen to the car.
-
Hey, you forgot my red hat....
Good luck with the sale.
-
S1 you're thinking of the Knappster's 501 tow vehicle, a white dually Ford.
The total Bearcat race rig only tips the scales at 20K when headed to the salt, so I use a 2500.
BTW did you know the trailer weight you can tow with a 2500 is higher than you can tow with a 3500?
Same chassis, same diff, so the same GCVW overall, but the extra weight of the dually setup counts against the trailer weight.

Speaking of looking closely at the truck, didja notice Garcia's stunning trousers in the first pic? :-D :-D It's stuff like this that makes it so worthwhile to go to the Shootouts.
-
Says you can only see the video on your tube. My tube doesn't play (videos).
-
Stan, you'll notice that that statement is underlined. Click on it and it should play.

Nope

S.B.
Go to youtube.com and enter "Barnyard Bearcat"
The video in the above post is # 4 of the 5 that are there
If that doesn't work, I can't help.
-
Stan needs to upgrade from the steam-powered iMac G* (or whatever) that he's using.
Mike
-
Maybe he just needs to pour on more coal!!! :-D :-D :-D
Pete
-
If he needs to upgrade his time slip, I could refer him to the top of this thread.
Just sayin'
-
That’s a great deal.
-
I do have a template to make "official" record certificates.
It's a lot cheaper that way.

To Often Seen Slim(Jim)
Like the man said, "Son, did you bring that car here to sell it, or just to show it off?"
-
For someone who could afford it........ That looks like it a whole lot of fun for the money.
-
Any possibility for the car alone? (no rig).
If so price? (and length.....)
What year engines?
thx!

SOLD!
To an anonymous party (who has promised to bring it to the salt, but until then it's a secret).
-
Cool-o-matic, Jim.  Let me know if you want to leave this topic up so everyone can enjoy it - or if I should make it go away.

I would like to thank Jim one more time for the opportunity to realize the dream of 41 years. In 2004 he offered me the chance at a red hat in the Bearcat. Took 4 passes but I got it right to break the 230 class minimum.
Thanks Jim, see you soon.

Definitely an honor helping with your wardrobe adjustment, DW! (OMG was it 14 years ago?!?!)
The new folks are bent on continuing the B.C. legacy with wardrobe adjustments of their own, although with a somewhat different color!
-
Congrats. Look forward to seeing on the salt. And you with your new ride as well.

Congratulations Jim! The first streamliner I ever sat in
