Title: Motorcycle streamlined center hub steering question.
Post by: jdolecki on December 01, 2018, 03:19:23 PM
How much travel for turning radius is typical?

Obviously the diameter of the hub limits the angle of the steering lock to lock?

Are there any links to motorcycle steam liner build?

This is just a design exercise for now to better my skills in cad design.

Thanks for you suggestions.

this is the link to my build , and the centre hub steering i have made
it has a total of 36 deg of steering , i could get a bit more but there is no benefit, given the long wheel base and a turning circle of a 2 acre field

i see you have just joined the forum
i should explain , that the build is for an A bike , ie special construction and the rule for steering was ( not in the Australian 2019 rule book any longer ) there be no more than 30 deg of steering .
this hub system was designed and built to comply with that steering limit ..

Thanks Harky that's  what I'm was look for. Some questions if you don't mind.

What speed are you going for?

What front tire are you planning to use?

the engine for it is a gen 1 with some power gain and should be a real 200 rwhp and Gas class
i will run it as a naked bike ( progress to APS in the future ) that class record in Australia is 210 ( or round there ) so like all bikes of this power and design the 200 + mph is what is hoped for , any naked bike is aero guesswork , some of my thinking is this is lower and less frontal area than a sit on . As my build says i am looking for better ergonomics than laying forward .
both tyres are Bridgestone RS10 R s ,    they are listed as “ street racing “ this. would ( i hope ) comply with tyre requirements for over 200 mph class .
the tyre speed rating is a never ending debate
