someone was asking about windshield tabs and I was wondering what other little and large things we might have to change in case we ever reach that threshold? running fuel altered. Phil

My understanding is that the speed requirements are the record in your class, not how fast you are going.

A-yup, you're right, Neil.
-
However...…
If you read the 7th paragraph of rule 1.A in the SCTA rule book you might find that you CAN run without class required modifications with an SCTA imposed "speed limit".
:-)

we are hoping to have to need to meet the 175mph requirements by upping the record to that level. Got to plan ahead, or maybe just wishful thinking.....
-
If that is the case, just add em. That way your are ready
-
that's what I'm asking, what are the 175ish requirements? I'm thinking windshield and rear window straps, parachute, don't think the fire bottles would need attention, but what else?
-
IMHO much more than wishful thinking - it's very intelligent thinking. Semper Paratus served me well when I served and has continued to right on through to the present, over 50 years and counting.
Been said before by many but always worth repeating and thinking about- safety regs are just minimums.
Back in '71 I was in a detail picking up shards of a window that blew out of a car on the course at speed, quicker we got it picked up the quicker everybody got to run again (single course back then). Wasn't easy finding all the sparkling shards on the sparkling salt and I sure didn't want to "find" one using one of my bike tires even though I wasn't running all that fast..........

to continue to answer my own question and for anyone else who wants to know......looking at the rule book I see that at 175mph for a front engine blown car (we are turbocharged) the minimum requirement is a SFI-20 suit, SFI-15 shoes and SFI-15 gloves. I see tires could also be an issue (not ours) and even the size of the roll cage tubing (not ours). Phil

I took the attitude of Build for 200MPH... especially the hard stuff, like roll cage, Fire system, and Safety Gear.particularly Safety Gear.
-
As far as I know you must exceed the 175 MPH in the 3rd mile to allow running on the log course.
-
Actually between the 2 and the 2 1/4 ... AKA your 1/4 time must be or exceed 175
