Been running in Gas classes.........what type of fuel shutoff controls are available and where do I get a system?.............or are they really needed if I run gasoline while in a fuel class?

If you run in the fuel class, you have to have the handlebar fuel shut off. Doesn't matter what fuel you actually use. There are lots of devices to do this. I bought a fuel solenoid from Amazon for $15 that is normally closed so energizing it opens it, and de-energizing it closes the fuel supply. Or there are some ways to do it mechanically with cables. But doing it with a solenoid it very simple.

Thank you, Don :-) :-)

Make sure that the shutoff valve you choose has Viton seals, they will handle anything wet , including alcohol, "normal" rubber seals will not. Also, be aware there are pressure feed types, & gravity feed types

Pingel makes a spring loaded "guzzler" fuel cock that operates by a cable to a lever on the handlebars. One has been on my bike for years with no problems. I run non-event gas in the fuel class, too.

Thanks, guys..................I ordered 2 electric units for my twin-tank gravity setup.
-
Follow-Up:...................the electric units had 'tiny' flow volume.............so Dave made custom units that operate with a split-cable adapted from a 1960s Honda twin. They work great :-) :-) :-)

Dennis,
Can you post a photo of Dave's modification, including the handlebar control and the valve control? I presume the cables are just being used to turn off the fuel valves.

I have run the Pingel cable type shutoff on Nitro Fuel Drag Bikes for years without issue. Nice thing about the Pingel valves is you can design the different component/parts (opening size, hose barb, AN fitting etc.) of the valve to fit your need.

Tom......I'm in Florida and won't return to Wisconsin until Summer :-)
Two tanks with petcock handles in opposite directions...........required an alloy fitting with a set-screw to each handle........cable pulls handle in opposite directions via a small lever similar to a compression release unit..........Yes, only required to turn the fuel off.
